Fuel Filler Pipe

:help: My fuel filler pipe has started leaking when I fill up at the petrol station.

Apart from wasting my hard earned cash, it's gotta be !Removed! dangerous to drive around with a hole or crack in that pipe. One stray ciggy out of someone's window just after filling up could make me and the car go out with a bang.

So :help: , where the hell can I get a new one from?

And, any ideas on the price involved??

Cheers peeps!!

Is that the TVIS or Non-TVIS version? I'm thinking it's a Non-TVIS one.

Can it be legally be driven on the road at the mo?? As in, getting it from your place to mine.

Have you got any pics mate??

If so, can you email me on JBODD1@yahoo.co.uk

Cheers

JT - Would that be easy to spot just by jacking the car up??

The leak must be coming from the bottom half of the filler pipe, as I remember about a month ago I over filled slightly and it kept dripping over night. Looked in the morning and there were white crystals on the ground below the tank!

tbh mate, i don't know. i just remember this happening ages ago on one of my dad's cars - it turned out the one of the clips holding the pipe to the neck had just broke. but yeah, id imagiue if you jack it up, and have a good poke about, you'd be able to see

It's deffinatley a crack or small hole in the filler pipe. It's not leaking from the join with the tank!!

I've heard that RS Turbo shaped Escorts have the same filler pipe. Is this true??

Would be a hell of a lot cheaper than a Toyota part.

Hi there,

I've heard of this happening before with a friends GTi, he was told it was quite a common problem. Mine appears fine thanks to waxoil.

However what is price of part off Toyota ...think my friend was quoted £104+vat, would like to know for what could be a future problem.
