I’m having a test drive in the Yaris cross excel next Monday I read it has a power tailgate where you can open with your foot under the rear bumper but can you also open and close it with your key fob ?  I can order the new 2024 model Yaris excel hatchback the dealer told me as that now available

You need to be clear on what you are ordering? First you mention the Yaris Cross, then you mention the "Yaris excel hatchback"? Which is it? Yaris Cross or Yaris? Yes, the 2024 model Yaris can be ordered now but the 2024 Yaris Cross will not be available to order in the UK until the 3rd/4th quarter 2024...

It’s on motability Colin as I have back problems have walking stick so Yaris cross easier for me to get in and out being higher ! Is the icon Yaris cross as well insulated.as the top of range excel ? The icon has 16 inch wheels would this be better ride and more mpg than the excel with 18 inch wheels ?

Ah, right. I don't have a Cross so others who do, would be better placed to comment in general. As far as 16" wheels are concerned, yes, there will be more ride comfort (bigger tyre wall) and a marginal improvement in mpg over the 18" option.

However, still be aware that any Yaris Cross you order/buy now will be a 2023 model year... (until much later in 2024)

I have a cross excel with the city pack, regarding opening the boot, it can be done from the keyfob, the button in the switch cluster near the driver’s knee, or by waving your foot under the bumper, it can be closed the same way, and there are two buttons on the tailgate, one closes the boot, the other closes and locks the car…mine has 18in wheels so I can’t comment on other sizes on other crosses, you do get tyre noise but I don’t think it’s too intrusive, mpg, atm, it’s showing 60mpg, but it does drop alarmingly in colder weather, in the summer it was easily achieving 68mpg, have a good long test drive and make sure your comfortable with it,

I’ve seen people doing swan lake trying to get that sensor to work.  It’s called a kick sensor because that’s what you do.  Stand at the back and kick forward slowly ONCE like you’ve gently kicked a ball to come out dead centre at the front.  Then stand back or it’ll hit you under the chin.

I’ve found it works flawlessly, well almost, it works first time usually but sometimes I think I’m too quick, mind you, it works sooo much better than my last car, trying to kick the tailgate open was like auditioning for riverdance..

An advantage of the 16" wheels seems to me to be that it's more difficult to kerb the alloys. I am still getting used to my YC with 16" wheels and twice I thought I had kerbed the nearside front wheel but not a mark to be seen.

Like almost everything on this forum, just take it as mostly informed speculation based on what we've gleaned from dealers and also that we know the Cross won't come out until after the normal Yaris, which is slated for 1st/2nd quarter of this year.

You'll need to dig up the various press releases and threads on here for the actual sources tho'.

But regardless, as with all such things it is subject to change. Given that japan's just had 2 major incidents and the new year's barely started, I'd expect delays...!

I understand the speculation....but why don't people say it's fiction....not a fact !

The Yaris Cross is made in France?

Woy123, states that his dealer has told him deliveries of the Cross are due to begin April / May.

TBH you should just assume anything anyone says here is just best-guess opinion unless it comes from the proverbial horses mouth (The 'horses'  in this case being DevonAygo, PartsKing or sometimes Frosty. I should clarify I'm not calling any of you literal horses! :fear: (dontbanme)), and even then they're only human (and definitely not horses!) and mistakes can be made.

Frankly that's good advice for anything on the Internet, especially on main-stream social media these days where people just seem to make up stuff for views and clicks!

If you get too OCD about factual accuracy on the information cesspool we call the Internet, you're going to get a brain haemorrhage

Also, his handle's Roy123, with an R! </ocd> :whistling1:

To be fair some people can't woll their rrr's in speech.

So that lexicon may extend to the witten word.

Toyota dealer told me not to expect the revised Yaris Cross before the end of the second quarter.   Whether he didn’t want people putting off ordering is a possibility.

That isn't very respectful! I never make up anything that I post on here. If you look through various Toyota press releases and blogs, you'll see I am right.

Additionally, my dealer was told directly by Toyota GB that the 2024 model year Toyota Yaris Cross will not be available to order till, at the earliest, 3rd quarter 2024. If it had been available now, we would have ordered one instead of the Yaris Premiere 130 that we did and even that won't be built/delivered until March/April.

Your point being what exactly?

Then his dealer is either trying to con him into buying a new Yaris Cross that is actually a 2023 model year vehicle or he is flat out lying!

Here...

...and that actually means "before the end of 2024"

Haven't kept up with YC updates as only would be interested in the 130 premiere cross. Although am not the 'chosen' one to get regularly confused, does the 24 model means my24/new updates or the 130 premiere?

* Okay just done a small amount of reading on the my24 cross topic at the top. It's to do with the facelift late 2024.
