Does anyone else have the issue of windscreen and rear window steaming or gigging up all the time in the current weather. There are times when I've gone to have the front demister on all the time, if I don't after 15 mins or so starts to fog up again. It's worse with car full rather than just me in it

Never really had this as bad in my other cars.

The first thing I would check is to make sure the recirculation button has not been pressed accidentally as that can cause the windows to fog up.

I've had this problem ever since I got my C-HR 30 months ago. It's been back to the dealer twice, with them saying nothing is wrong and my settings are fine. I've never had it happen so badly in any other car I've owned either, and because I'm so fed up with it, I certainly won't be buying another one once my finance ends.

Agreed.......air recirculation equals fogged up windows.

AND the blower on, you must have air flowing into the car

When I had this problem, I had the car set on recirculation. I cancelled the recirculation, which improved things, but was also advised to have the aircon switched on.

There was another thread about this on the forums but things to do are:

1) Make sure AC is actually on and not off

2) Recirculate is set to off

3) Clean your glass with a proper spray (Autoglym Fast Glass is very good, and use a clean microfibre cloth)

The combination of the 3 above will sort it for you. My wife has a Yaris and suffered with it until I did the above 3 things. I've had a Corolla and now a Rav4 and never had issues.

Good luck folks!

See the pinned topic below:

In addition to using air con with the heater, folding the visors down will trap some of the dehumidified air against the screen, helping to demist quicker .....

Yes I should have added that.  A/C is always on in my car, not quite sure why some people like to turn it off.  It really doesn't make that much of an impact on fuel consumption like traditional A/C does as it's an electric compressor run off the high voltage system.  The only time I switch the heater off completely is if I fancy having my window down, in which case I just press the off button.  Once I put the window back up, I press the Auto button and let the car do all the work 👍

Thanks for all replies. I normally Just have the HVAC set to auto normally.. What's the best setting to have it on. I was warey regards ac due to the fuel consumption issues but if its electric then no probs.

You may be using the Auto setting but you need to check that the AC light is illuminated as it is possible to have the Auto setting configured so it operates without turning on the AC.  From memory there is a setting that says something like `AC on in Auto` it should be set to be on.

Well, I do all of the above, and my front screen isn't just misty, it's soaking wet. So wet that a sponge wiped over it has to be wrung out. In very cold weather, this turns to ice inside the car, which is a first in over 50 years of motoring. Can't wait until next year when I can get rid.

No my AC light isn't lit on auto. Where would this setting be. So auto is ok as long as AC is on, or should I switch to manual with fan on 3 or 4 and directed to feet and screen??

I hardly ever change my settings - Auto 21 (sometimes 22) with AC illuminated, .

The AC button will not automatically illuminate when pressing Auto, you need to select it as it remembers the last selected state.

Penfold,

The quick workaround this is to press the AC button so it is illuminated.  Otherwise you need to explore your vehicle settings.  On my Corolla it would be Vehicle Settings - Climate Control.  There are two options, one for AC on in Auto which should be ON.  The other is for Efficient Ventilation which should also be ON.

When Efficient Ventilation is on and you switch off the car with recirc on then after 60 seconds the car will open the flap to outside air.  maybe this could help those with overnight misting problems.

Put ac on with auto this morning, weather was horrendous, lashing down rain. No obvious misting up. Windows do need a clean, but its difficult with the constant rain.....

Hopefully know how to sort now. Thanks all.....

I have an late October 2023(2.0)version.  After I received the car,i paid attention also to this. The weather helped me,because the 1st 14 days of ownership was always raining with alot of humidity in the air. After this other days in November and December were with same conditions=humidty+rain dance.
I can happily confirm ,to not have any issues with foggy windows whatsoever👍
