Re-using a timing belt? 2003 Rav4 D4D

Recently replaced my timing belt; 2 months and around 3/4k miles ago. (Toyota RAV4 2003)

Had to take it off again for other repairs and forgot to mark the rotation direction. Is it OK to reuse it without knowing the direction?

It's an interference engine so you will have to take a risk refitting the belt, there again belts or not expensive (circa £30) compared to a massive repair bill.

I know it's tempting as it's only 2 months old and barely used, but it's already been stretched, and for what it costs it's just better practice to get a new one...

Never re-use a consumable part. And don't fit it especially if you don't know the correct direction (does the direction matter with these?) - doubt = caution.

It's not worth the time, hassle and expense of doing the job for the saving over a relatively cheap part. Nor the catastrophic failure from failing in use.

Although.. in saying that, given a discussion on here a while back about oil.. you might find a few folks who will say it's alright haha
