Hi all.

I`ve been looking at de cat pipes and have come to the conclusion that they`re :censor: expensive.

Does anyone know if it`s an easy job to remove the internals from the cat thats already on there.

The cars on a J reg so no problem with regards to MOT issues.

TIA

I guess this is for a ST185 ?

if so I'd suggest a new down pipe from Hypersport and racing,

its a 2.5" item, not as good as a Aussie DP but well better than stock.

gutting a cat is OK but the compounds inside are highly toxic / carcinergenic! (if thats how you spell cancer forming) ??

cost about £150 ish

I have one and would recommend it.

Interesting. I heard that it would give a little more torque. Perhaps i`ll just leave it and save myself the hassle. :D

dak in all honesty the gains you get , well what i got wernt worth the 100 quid decat pipe , yours being a gt4 maybe you will - dunno.

Yeah. Thinking about it i might just leave it till i get other things done. it`s a long list and a decat aint at the top. :D

On the turbo no cat = big gain

you get a quicker spool up on the turbo and boost raises slightly.

I fitted the Hypersport item on its own and that alone raised my boost a little, gave more torque/power and makes a nice deep noise.

Also you loose loads of weight by getting rid of the cat.

I know a few people in the GT4OC have gutted the cat... no down side, but don't breath in the dust.

Just disconnect the exhaust from the cat and take hammer and chisel to it,

crude but works, you do not need the temperature sender so don't worry if you smack it.

Deffo worth doing but better to get a proper down pipe in the future would be even better..... gutting the cat of course is free !

It made the world of difference to mine when i had the exhaust gone and other mods. Are you on the GT4OC forum aswell?
