We have had about -7 C outdoor tempt today and -9 C in the evening and I noticed that AC (button) goes off when the ignition is switched off.

Havent noticed that before.

The "heaterpump" are very noicy to and the preheat of the cabin doesnt work as god as it use to.

Is it maybe beqause of the cold weather?

Have you had the update to the Heat Pump software to protect it and improve the cold temperature performance and noise?

Har du haft uppdateringen av värmepumpens programvara för att skydda den och förbättra prestanda och buller vid kalla temperaturer?

My local Toyota dealer/ garage did update the AC DC converter and the S.O.S/ICE 23-09-06 ( 6 sept.)but no heatpump update that Im aware of.

We had -14 C this morning and I had to preheat 4 times / cycles ( with about 30 minutes paus between) before the Windows where defrosted.

The ICE went on direct from start of the car and was on for about 5 minutes.

Ill container my local Toyota

I had a software update that addressed the problem of high noise at low temperatures.
Maybe your model did not need the update or was some when they changed the DC/DC Inverter.

Mine still makes a noise but not as much as it did when it was cold after I first bought the car.

Called my local Toyota mechanican , but my oridnary mec. Wasnt there so I talked to another mec. And he said that they havent heatd about any heatpump uppdate.

The earliest time they can check my car is friday next week.

I even noticed a clicking sound as I located from dashboard passenger ( left side, here in Sweden) side ( slightly just over the glovebox).

Dont know if thats adecuate for this issue , though

The heat pump is located behind the RH front bumper and before the software update would really make a horendious noise, very loud. It still makes a noise but nowhere near as bad.  The PHEV, probably along with the HEV, makes a lot of noises on start up, inverters, hydraulic pumps etc., plus the AC/heat systems.  I'm so used to the car now I hardly notice them anymore.  The exception being the heat pump when it's cold it does let you know it's doing it's best to cope with providing heat.

Kenth, can you describe the clicking?  Loud or soft, continuous or short pattern from time to time?

Its a quite soft/low sound and not totally continuos but almost. About one click per second. On the right side here in Sweden

Last winter we had the car ( RAV 4 PHEV 2020) in an underground parking garage where it never went below +5 C, so I didnt notice this issue.

Think i expressed myself a bit wrong.

The clicking are continuos but not totally in pace. About one click per second,  though

I can't hear the click when the heat pump are working, but when the heat pump' s quiet.

I'm not much of a technician but I can imagine that it could be the sound of sime kind of a relay, that shuts on and of.

And... I still think it very strange that the AC ( button) shuts of when the ignition as shut down.

Kenth,  thanks, not what I was thinking.

FYI, mine was a hard and loud click click click and repeated roughly 20 seconds or so.  Loud and persistent and very annoying.

We localised it to the mirror cluster and possibly the eCall.  The solution was to stop the car and reboot (switch off and switch on).

Only occurred 2 or 3 times.   Annoying each time yet sufficiently infrequent that a dealer visit would be more inconvenient. 9

Notised today ( -9 c) that the higher/faster fan speed, the higher/louder click sound

(+) 1 C here today and the AC (button) stayed "on" from start . 🙂

Talked to my local, ordinary Toyota garageman/mec. and he thought that it is some kind of 12V Battery safety/saving issue with the AC (button) shuting of when ignition is shut of, when it`s below -1 C . To prevent the AC to start imedeately, when the car is started.
