Wireless Charger issues

Has anybody had the issue where the wireless charger stop charging an iPhone after 30 seconds? It would appear the issue is caused by having the phone in a MagSafe case.  Remove phone from case and it’s works but obviously the phone now slides around the charger. Does anyone have a solution so iPhone can be left in MagSafe case

My couple of phones I’ve owned since since buying the car always have cases and the wireless charger has never worked effectively even if the case is removed. I gave up very a long time ago.

Wireless charging in general isn't the most reliable technology but the wireless charging in the RAV4 is terrible. Like Ernie, I gave up in the first week!

Best option is probably to get a third party mat and plug it in via usb adapter in the 12v 'cigar lighter' socket. I ended up with a vent mounted mag-safe charger/phone holder.

One of the biggest issues is that many phones (e.g. latest Samsungs and Pixels) only seem to work reliably on a 15w rated charger, particularly if it's in use at the time for navigation or music. I don't know what it is in the RAV4 but suspect it's no more than 10w. iPhones used to be limited to 7.5w on a non-Apple Magsafe chargers (i.e. standard Qi chargers), I'm not sure if that's still the case on the latest models, but that means you might have a better chance with an iPhone than us Android users.

If you get a 3rd party charger, it's worth making sure it's capable of 15w and the 12v to usb adapter is QC3.0 or PD rated, the cheapo ones won't output enough for the charger to use max output (nor will any usb-a socket in the car). Having said that, if the iPhones still have the limits, you'll still only get 7.5w but at least it'll work. Alternatively why not try a Magsafe cable and stick it to the mat, or somewhere else convenient with some double sided sticky foam pads. They have a decent enough magnetic grip. If you stick it to the mat, make sure you turn the built in charger off!

I got a 3rd party one from AliExpress, 15W, very simple to fit and works great with my iPhone 13 mini with a silicone case on.
