Hope you are all well.

I have a lovely 2012 Estima and the front headlight has stopped working.

After inspection at the local garage, they've suspect it has a integrated LED into the headlight unit itself, so not as simple as just changing the bulb.

Another garage has said it is a ''DS4 LED'' bulb...again not a straight forward swap.

Looking at the picture, is there a way to detach the cable from the bulb and replace with a new one ?

Anyone have any experience that could help ?

I am not sure, some pictures I saw showed the lamps pull off the base but that might not be the case for you. They may have to be replaced with the LED driver unit to ensure a match. Are they OEM fitment?

Too many after market ones around and I nearly fell into a similar trap.

Hello @JohnGW

thanks for that - I had to ring and drive around to many garages and eventually found a unsuspecting garage who were semi helpful after some words of encouragement as by this point I was a little stressed!

The existing bulb could be removed and the fear of it being integrated into the unit was now at ease.

The replacement bulb was a ''D4S'' ...but be warned to anyone not familiar...these bulbs are not stocked locally...you'll have to find them online...which they seem plenty of, the issue was with the delivery time, so something that needs to be factored in.

Fitting was another problem...the bumper had to be removed and the front light partially removed to remove the old and install the new.

Just wanted to update this post incase anyone else came across a similar issue.

Thanks all.

It looks like you can gain access through the under wing shield access points as in this video. How does that sound?

Having just watched the video I'm wondering why the bulb holder seems rather wobbly. He replaces the bulb then as he's putting the cable back on the whole bulb/holder seems to be moving around. Surely that's going to affect beam alignment?

They are ride height adjustable lights which is a must for HID lamps, a legal requirement.

The main beams being halogen or zenon lamps are fixed.
