Should Camry 'nanoe' air conditioning systems be serviced?

At my last annual service, I was told by the Toyota main dealer that my air con system was dirty and did I want it steam cleaned for £250 !. Firstly I was shocked by the outrageous quote so said no thanks.

However, I had forgotten that my Camry has some high spec 'nanoe' air con system. So I'm now thinking should this self cleaning system even be serviced. Anybody had a similar experience?

To my knowledge it should be maintenance free - TBH I'm still not sure what it even does! The blurb reads like just a bunch of tech words strung together

It seems to essentially be a fancy air ionizer?? :confused1:

Exactly my thoughts Cyker, so why would a Toyota main dealer quote £250 for a steam clean ? don't answer that as we all can guess, but just for the fun of it I will go back and ask the question, whether they get the next service depends on the answer !

Probably for the same reason a Toyota main dealer took it upon themselves to quote me £360 for a bodywork repair for 'damage' which I subsequently wiped off in ten seconds with a damp tissue! I was not amused.

My wife's C-HR has the Nanoe system and there has never been any mention of any sort of maintenance for it when the car has been serviced.
