No Service Record Book

Hi all. I bought my Yaris Hybrid at Toyota in Tamworth in April 2023 while I just realized that there is no Toyota service record book in the black leather bag. I just realized that when I finished my interim service today. This car is all the way been sold, serviced and repaired by Toyota since day 1 from the record I could see in my MyToyota account.

Can you advise what I can do? 😞

As far as I'm aware, the electronic service record has replaced the service book.

As Frosty says, this is normal - They default to electronic-only service recording, but you can request a paper one for a nominal fee.

I will give this as a big thumbs up to Jemca, as they supplied not only a service book, but an abridged paper manual as standard without me even having to ask!

They haven't actually stamped it once yet, but to be fair I keep forgetting to give it to the service agent, and I guess because it's normally electronic they don't ask me for it like they did with my old cars to remind me...

I think most manufacturers are now using computer logging systems rather than manual paper record books.

I use to have a 2014 car & in the year 2020 Toyota still has records of its first 3 services as one was missing out of the back of user operating book.

My 2020 Yaris MK4 has a service record in the back of the user operating booklet.

Well my 21 Yaris and my 23 Cross both had service books.

I think just about every manufacturer has moved on to an electronic record ( encourages onwers to have the car serviced at main dealers? ) but if you want physical record then simply keep your receipts.

Irrespective of what car I own, I keep the service sheets which lists all the checks made, the quantity of oil used, the brand of oil used, the exact mileage, tyre tread depths, recommendations etc.

If I was buying a used car, I'd much rather see that than a dealers stamp which tells me nothing other than the car was serviced on such and such a date.

The last two new cars we've bought, the dealers (different marques)! didn't want the documented, anonymised service history of our part exchanges due to data protection. All they wanted was the stamped service book.

I do wonder if that will impact used sales prices - I always look through the paper work to verify services have been done, and have dodged a few bullets in the past from noticing there had been an engine change or some other major work done on a car that I hadn't been told about and only noticed from the receipts!

I certainly wouldn't accept a stamped book on its own as proof of Full Service History - Stamps are easy to forge, and I've had dealers and third party garages do this in the past where they forgot to stamp the book, and I raised it at the next service and they just stamped it twice, so there's nothing to stop them stamping out all the missing services.
