Look how they massacred my boy ... 😠

I had the DC-DC converter changed two weeks back and only noticed this today since I hardly use the back seats.

Check out how they put the plastic trim back in after taking out the back bench - I couldn't believe it when I saw it, and it's like that on both sides! Looks like some cowboys at the stealership worked on my car. They even forgot a pry tool and left it on the floor. This is like basic Lego level assembly, have they never played with Legos? Even my 10-year-old could tell something was off. What kind of statement does this make about their work ethic and standards?

I know it's not the biggest deal, but there's something about unprofessionalism in the workplace that really gets under my skin. I'm seriously thinking about reporting this to Toyota head office.

Do I also see scratch mark on the first photo?.

Hopefully the seat will fit correctly when lifted & repositioned back down with a little more care.

Yeah I'm not sure about that scratch, I cleaned it and it's not that visible. I fixed it myself already by taking the bench and some clips out, took me 5 minutes. For sure the plastic discoloured in the corners from the pressure because it wasn't seated properly. What a bunch of incompetent people.

Sadly it's the way of pretty much everything these days.

I do wonder what is the root cause.

Is it a lack of skill/knowledge/experience?

Or I can do it but can't be bothered?

Or the wages/conditions are so poor and as I'm treated so badly why should I care? And the gaffer has said we can't have a wage rise as the business is struggling and then turns up in a brand new Aston Martin - yes that actually happened to someone I know.

Or I could do it but not in the 14 seconds that someone who hasn't a scooby doo about doing it has come up with

Or something else?

I'm quite a fan of the small, local business who actually know what they're doing for a reasonable price and are looking for you to come back. But they are becoming more and more difficult to find.

Same here. Not only did it take 3 attempts to get this swap sorted despite reassurances about having the part, but they also made a mess.

Scratches and huge deformations in the back seats like a sumo wrestler had kneeled on them. Tried to fix it without success. I complained but so far the manager has not got back.

Will be writing a letter to Toyota head office. Very disruptive trying to get this sorted in the first place and when it's done they've left it a right mess.

I'll be taking multiple before and after photos in future.

I already decamp all my repair, tools, and survival and mountaineering gear out of the car before I take it in to the dealer. Past experience with a french brand and them stealing my stuff then denying it.

Hi......takes more than bright, slick reception areas with bottomless coffee/tea to deliver the main reason we hand over our vehicles for service/repairs etc.
Similar to having a meal in a nice restaurant; if only we were aware of what was going on in the kitchen.......Barry Wright, Lancashire.

Remember going to an Edinburgh Indian restaurant with work colleagues a few years ago. The meal wasn't too good, certainly not what we expected.

I went to the toilet which was down a few flights of stairs with various doors on a the landings. On leaving the toilet which was a bit disgusting I took a wrong turning and opened the door going into the kitchen. What a nightmare, it put me off Indian food for a good while 😦

Usually it's a little bit of everything, however, with my particular situation, it wouldn't even take more than 5 seconds to get it aligned correctly. So, it feels like pure laziness and unprofessionalism at play.

Before you made the effort to fix the problem yourself, would it not have been at least worth a visit to the stealership to get the service manager to look at the poor workmanship? Unfortunately, someone else may well get the same service now by the incompetents that did your service.

Well I called them and also put it on the email feedback. Was told the manager would call me. That was weeks ago. No call.

Basically it's pointless. And disruptive for very busy people. Best way is to give them an awful score on Google reviews and any other review site and show their reckless incompetence.

Was going to do it but it was Saturday afternoon and they were closed already.

That is clearly complete inadequate in every way. What a pain.

This is why I have been so hesitant to let the dealer install front/rear dashcams (new RAV4 coming soon). I want dashcams but I am resisting simply because I don't trust anyone to install them without damaging something. I don't have time in life to deal with the stupid mistakes that people make...

Good approach, I wouldn't let them to do it also. Given their capabilities, I can only imagine how much of a mess they could create. There are lots of tutorials on removing plastic trims and running a cable, so you will be fine.

It seems to me to be an admin error where they let you take the car before they had finished.

Not excusing it but noway would I leave the tool I was using in the car if I had finished doing whatever it was.
