Okay..

you strip Yaz down, completley..

Take a 2JZ-GTE engine, install it just infront of the rear axle (Clio V6 style). Tune to around the 500bhp mark (quite easy, the 2JZ can get double that)

couple that engine to a 6-speed box and 4 wheel drive.

Obviously install the radiator etc in the front, box off the engine (but viewable for shows) for safety.

Rebuild, replacing most of the panels with Fibreglass.

:D

i think ive just come........:wacko:

but please dont relate to a Clio

install it just infront of the rear axle (MR2 style)

okay..

sorry Rob... but you get the point i was making (from hatchback to mid-engined racer)

Of course, considerations, relocation of the fuel tank, saftey issues to make it road legal. enough seperation between the engine and passenger cabin etc...

I'm not sure whether we should just stick with RWD (easier from the technical point of view) or go for the 4WD???

:P

ive been chatting with nick on MSN about this (Yaris_WRC)

on the possibilitys of stuffing a 3S in the back end and converting to RWD using the enitre rear setup from an MR2 turbo as the hardest bit of making it RWD is mounting the suspension and drive train (the entire back of the car has to be rebuilt)

but doing a 'cut and shut' style job you could take the front of the yaris and the rear of the mr2 chassis and put them together, and reshell as a yaris again

plus....

the front end is still in the front drive setup so............

a few custom prop/driveshafts and a 4wd transfer output for the 'box......

:D
