Just saying hello, I’m new Toyota and we recently picked up our 2022 Aygo X drives lovely and surprisingly fast the MPG is phenomenal 😊

Wanted to check is it just me or is the clutch biting point quite high? Might even need to move my seat back a tad haha!

Hi yeah I'm an automatic owner, but I've heard others have found the manuals have a high biting point on the clutch. The CVT is a really good auto gearbox if you ever want to switch in the future.

Yes I’ll be bearing that in mind 😊 I’m sure I’ll get used to it as I drive on hopefully

The biting point is high. It's not you.

All aygoX have this thing and imho the AygoII was even worse.

Also a bit of an engine that dares to faint (stall) if you want to drive on immediately after starting it up (also when start/stop restart the warm engine) or when you have the AC on.

That's the only reason I regret not buying the CVT automatic.

It's not perfect but it will be reliable and economical to drive. I agree with Mr. Peacock here that it's nice to drive a longer distance. That's one of the things they made better from aygoII to X.

That’s good to hear (that it’s not just me) I’m guessing will take a little practice like any new cars really, oh I see the old Aygo was worse than this?

So when the start/stop kicks in best to over rev engine so it doesn’t stall is that what you mean? Sorry if I sound stupid 🙈

Yes we did a drive yesterday from wales to England around 160mile round trip and was pleasant and enjoyable on the motorway I mainly used the cruise control and the lane assistance really does work as intended. Strange thing I didn’t spot not one other Aygo X on our travels usually (specially when you buy a car you tend to spot them Everywhere) so hopefully I’ll start seeing some more Aygo X drivers out on the roads soon beep beep! 🚗

i've spotted about 1000 since we bought ours. not aygo x's but aygos.

it's a toyota so should last forever. my wifes mums 1987 corolla she bought brand new is still running perfectly. only ever had ofc tyres brakes and batteries.

from what my wife said it has never broken down.

imagine that from a modern audi 🤣

- AygoII was worse because it was a clutch cable system. The cable needs to be set every year or so to be perfect but dealers often ignored that or forget.

It also means that the cable stretches a but in time and the biting point becomes higher. This way you wear out the clutch which can lead to premature clutch wear and you would have to replace it. Cost for an aygo clutch is / was low.  Less than 500 pounds.

I would say revving it a little more than minimum would be great. Overrevving is bad for clutch wear. You need to learn to predict the moments that are dangerous for stalling and then just rev it a little extra. It's no shame you stall the car sometimes. I still do after one year and 5000 miles. I find reversing on an incline also risky for stalling it.

Seeing the aygoX in traffic  : in my country (not uk) I see them rather rarely too. AygoX is a lot more expensive than AygoII and that would be a reason for selling them less. Peugeot and citroen stopped selling this type of car now that was identical to the aygo and made in the same factory.  That would give them an advance....  Until now, you are rather special with the X on the road.

However, production of the Aygo X didn't begin until April 2022, so the sales figures for 2022 (around 64,000) are effectively only for 8-9 months.

Yeah but I mean :
A few million of the old model around in Europe..    It's no wonder you don't see the AygoX yet on the roads as probably there are about 140.000 or so on the road in Europe in total.

I've seen 2 or 3 Aygo Xs in my local town alone.

Oh wow a 1000 of them must have quite a few on your roads over there, I’m still yet to spot one on my roads so far it’s just mine haha!

Yes I’ve heard there very reliable one of the reasons I went for a Toyota 😊 specially with there 10 year warranty (if serviced by them each year) which I’ll be doing so they clearly have faith in their cars which is a great sign.

about warranty sorry if I sound silly my warranty standard 3 year runs out in July 2025 but needs a service in the next 100 days (according to the app) so I’m ok to get a service anywhere for this one I assume? But then the next one and all the rest will be via Toyota directly there website didn’t make it to clear or maybe I was looking at the wrong section 😂 (high possibility)

That would explain it I’ll be more patient 😜

Oh more than I’ve seen haha! My old car I saw them every corner really haha! I had a Nissan before my Aygo X I’m guessing I’ll see more and more of them on our roads soon 😊

Of course it's not all completely clear to everybody. I think there are many conditions to be met.

For example : i read in my warranty conditions (maybe country dependent) that in case of an engine warranty claim on the car under RELAX conditions...  The LAST 2 maintenances must have been done according the factory's rules and this must be proven with detailed bills.
Make the maths..

Oh I see in that case I best service this one with Toyota directly thanks for the heads up 😊 (the last service or first service I was with them so that would cover me then) thanks for pointing this out to me I didn’t spot that

Each to his own mate ..  I understand your doubt.

I just had a 50 euro maintenance done for 300 euro and I always have doubts around that time, about what I will do next year.

The number of AygoX's around here is scary - There were already a lot of Mk4 Yarisusuesieueesesieses before, but I think they have been already overtaken by AygoXs despite having a shorter sale time!!

Interestingly I have also been seeing a lot of Golfs and Polos, but the number of Focus and Fiestas, which were typically the things I'd see most often, seem to have declined. Most common EV is still the Tesla Model 3, although there have been a lower but still surprising number of Ioniq 5's and Polestar2's!

Dacia is giving some promotion now where they sell the Sandero from 11.999 euro. A lot cheaper than the cheapest Aygo and surely more car for the buck.

We had a Dacia before a 21 plate one and it drove lovely but didn’t like the car really weren’t great on fuel either

HI Scott,

Enjoy you new Aygo X, me and my wife when to buy an test drive one and ended buying a Yaris MK4 instead, but I still like the look of the car we just wanted a Hybrid more then anything

We use to own a few Dacia, they are not great to drive or very good performance and they have a very plasticky interior but for sure they last a long time

I didn't buy a Dacia cause I didn't like the seats..  very weak. No support on the sides. I think my aygo is more suitable for driving longer distances.

Also no 10 years warranty on the Dacia.

And the tce engines 900 cc are not great. Seems they have improved now to the 999 cc engine.

Renault engines have a habbit of consuming oil after a while. But so does the aygo engine.

Dacia turbo engines have more power. And they are cheaper. That are some important plusses.

The Dacias are meant as bargain basement poverty spec cars; They're not meant to be luxurious, just hard wearing and cheap. They're surprisingly reliable because there's nothing on them to go wrong

I'm impressed they could get the price so low - They were one of the loudest opponents of all the ADAS stuff being made mandatory, as they argue it's impossible to build a cheap car with all that stuff on it.

I have a soft spot for them as, with everyone else piling in needless complexity into modern cars, the Dacia's simplistic lack of anything is weirdly refreshing
