The Dacias are meant as bargain basement poverty spec cars; They're not meant to be luxurious, just hard wearing and cheap. They're surprisingly reliable because there's nothing on them to go wrong

I'm impressed they could get the price so low - They were one of the loudest opponents of all the ADAS stuff being made mandatory, as they argue it's impossible to build a cheap car with all that stuff on it.

I have a soft spot for them as, with everyone else piling in needless complexity into modern cars, the Dacia's simplistic lack of anything is weirdly refreshing

Reminds me of a certain ickle car, can't remember what!!!

if I sound silly my warranty standard 3 year runs out in July 2025 but needs a service in the next 100 days (according to the app) so I’m ok to get a service anywhere for this one

Yes, but you will have to keep evidence that it has been serviced correctly with equivalent standard parts, etc. Independent garages don't have access to Toyota's electronic service records either.

Whatever make one has, whilst it is within the new car warranty period, I just don't see the point in going outside the marque's dealer network to save a few pounds, as you're just giving the manufacturer a possible get out if there is a warranty claim in the future.

Yep totally agree! I’m going to stick with Toyota like you say no point going elsewhere and making them a sort of get out clause down the line. I’m assuming Toyota are good if you do have to claim on warranty? I was going to get it serviced with the RAC as they come to your house and do it which is perfect for when I’m working from home, but I’ll call Toyota today and book something in and cancel the RAC one thanks for the advice 😊
