Road/wind noise.

Hello, I have a 2023 Yaris which is a lovely vehicle to drive but… I feel there is quite a lot of Road/wind noise that I am sure Toyota could improve on. Has anybody else got the same feelings?

Yarises are at the lower end of the food chain so doesn't have much on sound insulation. There are members who have self install sound deadening mats in the boot/bonnet/door cards. Posts on the forum, have a search.

The Yaris has never been a particularly well noise-insulated vehicle - That tended to go to the higher-end vehicles - but I must admit the Mk4 is particularly bad compared to the Mk1 and Mk2!

At least it makes it easier for me to hear police sirens coming  (And boy do I hear a lot of them in London!  )

The only noise I might complain about is the road noise, but to be honest that's more of a fault of the roads than of the car. When I'm lucky enough to drive on a good surface the car is almost silent. Tyres have a big bearing on road noise, mine came with Continentals and they are not the worst. I read from other members that Falkens have a bad reputation for noise. I drive a lot of different people, and quite a lot of them remark how quiet the Yaris is.

Very true - There is a strip of tarmac that was newly laid about a year or so ago on one of my routes, and it's like being in heaven when I go over it! It's so smooth and quiet compared to the rest, and even passengers have commented on it because the difference in road noise is so massive!

I wish all roads were paved with whatever they used there!!

Oxford by-pass used to be grooved concrete, the noisiest surface I've ever encountered. Re-surfaced, with, I believe a surface that contains granulated old tyres. What a pleasant difference.

Well folks, do you remember back to 2017 when the then chancellor George Osborne raised the ved it was used for general taxation until 2020 when it was supposedly ringfenced for use on road maintenance…!,
