Toyota Avensis T25 2006 Bluetooth adapter install problem

Hi,

Im trying to install a bluetooth adapter in the cd changer slot, I have installed the adapter in the 6+6 slot and the LED indicator is flashing red, I find the adapter on my phone and can connect to it so it is powered on. But when i press the DISC button on the radio to switch to CD nothing is happening, the screen still says FM or AM depending of what i have chosen before. Im not sure if it is the adapter that is not recognized or if its problem with the car stereo unit. Nothing was connected to the 6+6 slot before install so I wonder if the DISC button should make a change even if nothing in the 6+6 slot is recognized. Maybe its the button thats not working? AM/FM buttons is working.

I use this adapter:  https://www.fruugonorge.com/usb-aux-bluetooth-bil-digital-musikk-cd-veksler-adapter-for-6-6-pin-yaris/p-157059335-332779484

My car radio unit is W58830.

From the basic information I have read the bluetooth adapter should work as Toyota use the same interface with most units in most vehicles, except ones with navigation. I checked the radio model W58830 and it is a navigation unit. I use a similar adapter from another brand in my T27 2009 Avensis and it works.

Do some basic checks. Make sure the pins in the CD changer port are not bent. Easily done if the plug is pushed in at an angle with force!  In this case the adapter powers on, but the CD/radio is not detecting the adapter. Changing the source may not work because I suspect it is a Nav unit! When I looked at adapters in the past, Companies like Connects2 and Yatour would detail all the compatible radios it worked with, and the ones not compatible!

Have you contacted the Fruugo https://www.fruugonorge.com/contact?language=en ?

They should be able to advise you.

Hi,

Thanks for the answer, do you know if the DISC button should change mode to CD from radio when pushed even if cd changer/bluetooth adapter isnt detected?

The 6+6 slot looks fine to me, but I noticed that there is only a totalt of 9 threads connected to the bluetooth adapter connector, as seen on picture below. Shouldn't there be 12? Or is only 9 connections used in this type of connector?

I couldn't answer that question, not ever used your CD/radio. Have you put a CD in and tried yourself? Some radios have a source or AUX button that changes between available sources. My car changes between FM1 FM2 AM CD AUX and the adapter which has bluetooth and USB. I can listen to music stored on my phone via bluetooth or a memory stick. All controlled from my steering controls. If using my phone for navigation, what ever source I am listening to is muted briefly and the directions given. Have you tried phone calls. The system should mute and your call comes in. When connected, your phone will show it is connected to the system. If you have music in the app, start the app to play the music. Phones like Samsung have routines, so automatically start playing music when a particular device is connected to bluetooth.

I have the same problem, I have installed a generic cheap bluetooth 6+6 adapter and I can connect to the bluetooth with my phone, the LED on it blinks but I can't make the radio detect it / change over to Disc / Aux.....

It's a W58831 radio, it has Navi buttons but no Navigation etc installed as far as I am aware

Did you ever manage to get yours working?
