Turn fog lamps

French Auris

Hi all.

Sorry I got no idea what they are called but when the lights are on and you turn a corner the front Fog light  light up to that direction that you are turning.

The Question.

I have a 2018 Auris Mkii I believe (E18) I don`t have these on the car but I do have Fogs but is the wiring there already, I have the base model, If the loom is there what would I need to make the lights work?

Thanks in advance.

It's called cornering lights. It's a bit complicated to fit aftermarket ones, you need a module for each fog lamp but the problem is activating these modules, existing steering wheel module of your car should command these cornering lights modules, so when you steer left, left projector should light up and when turn right, right projector should light up.

I have a Seat with this function, and I can tell you that is not a big deal ...

More useful is left or right side only parking lights function, when you park on a dark narrow alley this function can be activated to be visible, but only left or right, front and rear parking lights lit up, no license plate light neither instrument cluster and other switch lights.

  Sorry for being off topic.

Ah thanks for the name.

I have fog lights as standard fitted so I don't need to fit any after market ones.

Is all the wiring in place and if so would I need a just Relay for me to have cornering lights ?

No, Toyota never offered this even as an option so no wiring is in place. You'd have to figure a way of wiring it up from scratch and not worth the hassle IMHO.

Thanks very much, I guess another thing not to think about in the end.

Unfortunately I didn't find an aftermarket module for cornering lights, so if you really need this function you have to find a specialist to make one, actually two modules, one for each side.

As the inputs of the module you need a +12v from blinkers, +12v from low beam and a +12v from fog lights. Output would be for fog light bulbs only.

I often use the standard fog lights in dark areas where there are no street lights and it’s very very dark, just do my manoeuvres and then switch them off as per the law, only keep them ON in fog and heavy rain.
I don’t like these turn corner lights and they mislead other drivers , at least I often get tricked by cars entering the roundabout and these lights gets activated by the steering wheel and I make a complete stop where I could just continue, as a these lights tricks me been a turn signal. Probably others does same as me.

Was this standard on certain models? Or did you fit it yourself?

Its operated by the indicator stalk and tends tends to be a German car thing. VW group cars are often fitted with it, as are many Vauxhalls (due to their Opel origins). Leave the indicator stalk in the left position for left hand side parking lights, and vice versa.

Yes, I had this feature on 1980s BMW and a 1990s Vauxhall Cavalier. Always thought it was such a neat idea (reducing drain on the battery) , I can't understand why other manufacturers never utilised it.
