2012 Yaris Windscreen Vent Broken

Hi, the control dial in my Yaris will not turn all the way to the windscreen setting. It gets stuck almost on the windscreen icon but not quite there. It means I only get very low ariflow to the windscreen. A toyota specialist garage looked at the issue when it was in for a service. It isn't the dials or wires. They think it may be something jammed in the "airbox" (not sure what its called) stopping it from moving to the correct position. They said to investigate further would involve taking off the steering wheel and more of the dash and lots of hours in labour costs (not really economical for the age of the car)

Has anyone had a similar issue please? I see lots of posts about the wires being stretched or coming off but that's not the issue here.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Can you get to the airbox from the glovebox side? I'd be happy even if I was just able to permanently direct it to the windscreen.

I love the car and this is the only issue i have... any thoughts please?

Alternatively, can anyone recommend a mechanic in Kent who could help?
