Android Auto not working

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2022 Yaris Hybrid Dynamic and I'm having an issue with connecting my phone to the car's infotainment system using Android Auto. I tried different USB cables and no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Use the same cables and plug the phone to a pc/laptop to see whether it gets a prompt to transfer files/data. If no prompt then cable is charging only.

Try an 'Anker' cable , I had the same problem and it worked fine for me.

If you use the original cable that came with the phone then it should work.

Hi Guys!

Thanks for all the suggestion. It did work using a high-end USB cable. However, I wish to connect it wirelessly. However, I cannot connect it? Any suggestions?

Maybe Your Yaris doesn’t have wireless AA/CarPlay.  Not all models do.

Usually when you connect wired the headunit will ask if you want to connect wireless next time.

Mine only has wired CarPlay/Android Auto. I added a wireless adapter.

What adapter do you use?

I use a Carlinkit v5 (2air) the with CarPlay on the Prius.

Despite having wireless Android Auto capability, I never managed to connect it. I was able to connect different phone but not mine so I use wired connection.

Also there were reports that wireless AA in Yaris X was somewhat unreliable, with frequent disconnections, forcing user to use USB anyway so personally I don't feel that anything is missing

My experience with the Yaris Cross (with Smart Connect 9" screen) differs. Problems have been related to Android Auto software versions that challenge some phones rather than the Toyota Smart Connect unit. AA also requires a lot bandwidth that some phone hardware cannot sustain reliably.

I have discussed these challenges in other posts.
