Estima 2016 Dashboard Language Translation

Hoping someone can help with my query. I have a JDM  2016 Estima Hybrid of the latest facelift and love driving the vehicle. The dealer replaced the original head unit with a "slow" Android unit and converted the speedometer odometer to mph / miles. I do have the original Panasonic unit. Over the past few months  I have been to taking photo images of the various dashboard displays and translating the japanese narrative to English to try and understand what is being displayed.

Recently however, I stumbled onto a short (1.23 mins) YouTube posting by a Victor D,  labelled as a JDM Estima / Hybrid 2016 - 2019 Language Conversion into English language. The dash / fascia shown is the same as mine and all looked promising. However, I didn't pick up any clues as to how the translation was achieved e.g. dealer conversion, add-on chip etc.  Can anyone give me any pointers ?  I have managed to download a User Manual for the car (in Japanese) and translated this into English, but have not yet found any translation clues in the Manual.

I have posted the info a few times on here

do you have that type of dash with the colour display? if so the firmware on the instrument cluster will need to be reflashed with the appropriate equipment

you may also have the option in the settings menu have look through each setting in one of them it will say English if it's programmed

Thanks for your advice, hadn't seen your previous responses to this issue. Will look at the screen option further to see if there's an English option  If reflashing is required, is that an independent Toyota service outlet requirement? Seems main dealers won't touch the car locally.

I doubt you will find anyone that does it, Toyota dealers will not touch an Import car, to much liability, most workshops will not have the knowledge, the dash has to come out of the car and it has to be programmed on the bench, by someone with the correct files

flash22 - Thanks for your additional advice  Yes, I do have the coloured display, but haven't yet managed to scroll around all of the steering wheel button options to exhaust the settings options.  Looks like it's a photo / Google Translate route then 🙂

Hi, i have the same coloured Display for a Totyota Estima 2016 - can you confirm if you did manage to scroll around on the steering wheel options to finding the language settings option?

Sadly, not yet. If I'm honest I've really been concentrating on mpg log and driving technique atm.  I'll keep scrolling though !
