Remote climate start addon

Hi. 

Does anyone know what part of the car is responsible for having or not this feature, I mean the remote climate start.

Would that be the infotainment system?

I have a hybrid 2022 model with 1 zone climate control and I was wondering if anyone tried this before?

Maybe that Italian friend with the heated seats and reclining mirrors?

I have late 2021 model, with 1 zone climate control, and the remote climate control feature is not available for me.

What you mean? I was just asking that.

I meant that I don't believe the feature is available on the 2022 Yaris models. OTOH, I don't know specifically which part of the car interprets/transmits to the Toyota servers and then to MyToyota app.

I believe it’s only available for cars fitted with the smart connect headunits.  In my case that’s a 9” headunit. Some of the 8” headunits may support it but that’s where my knowledge ends.

The servers may be programmed with what the car has, so they might need updating too. That could be a whole other can of worms.

My 2021 Yaris Cross has it and I used it twice, triggering it from my phone app.  However, when the temps dropped to -6, it didn't work. I could not get a status check on the car, so it was a communications issue.  I was worried about the Battery status, but it started just fine.

Our 23 Excel has it. Recently it has shut off after about 10 mins saying something like - function disabled as too many times used with the car unattended.
The function is in the My Toyota app

10 min shutoff is normal and is the set time (you will see it counting down).

The first time I used it I got the same warning but it appears it resets the next time you start the car normally as I’ve used it twice since then.

You and the OP are non-UK. It may be a country specific option.

May be. What is funny is that I asked the dealer about this feature (if my MY23 EU version Yaris would have it) as it is not mentioned anywhere in the brochure. He told me that this feature is unofficially supported by my car, ie. it may or may not work depending on random reasons and this won't be a fault on their side if it doesn't work. 

Yet it works perfectly. It failed 2 or 3 times, retrying did the trick. Personally I didn't pay attention to this feature at first (when it was summer) but it came in handy during winter time when I realised I can brush the snow from the outside while the car preheats from the inside. Car does mainly short trips so during avg 5-10 min remote controlled preheating session it recharges the Battery a little too.

So for now the only usefull info is that in the 9" verion infotaintment (JBL) it works...

The remote function only works twice in a row and then you have to go to the car and start it manually and then you can use the remote function twice again.

It's a real shame the app does not let you adjust the temperature. I just set it to the temp I want before I leave the car ......to warm the car up before I get in, mind you, in the Aygo X, it doesn't warm up that much anyway. I bet you such a function is there and they are just not giving it to us 😄😭

No, mine had the 360 cameras and the old 8 inch display and it had remote start.

Yes, but was your 8” display one of the later ones with smart connect ?
