2020-2021 Prius for Taxi use - Advice Needed

Hi guys,

Long term admirer of Toyota’s here. I owned a Hiace years ago and was blown away by the reliability of the thing and used to love the Toyota Celica (don’t laugh) when I was younger!

Anyway to cut to the chase - I was made redundant recently from a sales job (been there 20 years) and now looking to become a taxi driver until I figure out what I want to do in the future (I might enjoy taxi work, who knows)

Now my mate who I’m going so work for is currently running a Prius with over 400k on the clock, so this itself tells me they are mega robust and reliable.

I’m looking to use my redundancy money on a 2020-2021 plate and ideally just need it to be mega reliable and offer me the best bang for the buck MPG wise - 67mpg seems to be the norm for these?

I'm looking at a 1.8 Activ VVT-H which I seem to be able to get for between £15.5k-£18k with around 44k-60k on the clock - would o get at least 250-300k out of these if well serviced and maintained moving forward?

Needs to be at least a 2020 plate as I need to register with Nottingham city council so needs to be under 4 years old.

Are the business editions worth the extra if I’m only using as a taxi?

Ive also looked at Japanese imports as they seem to be about 2-3 grand cheaper but I’m hesitant due to lack of UK warranty.

Any recommendations/ tips on what to opt for?

Thanks
