Annual MOTs and first MOT at three years, to remain.

Having seen the fire condition of some cars in the USA where some states have no MOT equivalent, I really think we need an MOT. Try looking at the YouTube channel Just Rolled In for some horrific examples

Whether it becomes 2 yearly or not is open to debate.

Correct decision, the way some people look after their cars a 12 month test should never be changed, it should be a minimum. Cars are much better than they used to be but the state of some cars is shocking, especially tyres and brakes

I'm glad - Whoever proposed that in the first place was an idiot.

If it was up to me, cars would require MOTs from new!

The amount of even 23-plate cars I've seen with obviously deflated tyres just makes me wonder how some people got past the hazard perception test, given how oblivious they are!

It may be possible to extend the time for the first MoT, but after that it should remain annually at one year.  Although the production quality has greatly improved, the latest models have so many extra features, some of which are critical to safety, that relaxing the annual MoT could prove to be disastrous, because there are many more features that could fail prematurely.
