Initial update is that I cant seem to get the grin off my face every time I drive it😀

I haven't monitored fuel consumption (and don't plan to do so!) as I've 'hooned' it everywhere with the big aforementioned grin stuck to my face.

Might have to replace the GT86 with a sensible runabout or maybe something older and comfier(a Lexus of some sort appeals)

I'm likely to put my name down too as I like the sound of the 8 speed auto version.

Hi David, Congratulations on your new GR,what are your initial thoughts on it's spec etc.😀

Did you also find the insurance reasonable?👍

Me too! 😁I've also seen a video where the 8-speed auto changes so fast that it can keep up with a manual and sometimes beat it (depending on how well the changes happen on the manual) over the quarter-mile drag...

I lament the loss of my GT86 (back in 2014) but my ageing back thanks me for it now as I just couldn't take getting in and out of it! 🤣

I'm already like that with my hybrid so I'd be scared to try the GR4 on a fun road in case I grin so hard my head falls off!

I'm glad you're enjoying it  - They really nailed the balance of handling and power delivery on that thing!!

Happy hooning!

Spec wise it has everything I need, which for me is climate control and Apple CarPlay.

I haven't played with the drive modes to any great extent yet, loads of grip although would be great if it sounded a little more 'sporty' I'm no longer young (56 eek!!) so not looking for boy racer type noises but just a little more??

Insurance aided no doubt by age, low risk post code and a perceived sedentary profession (solicitor) isn't too bad-or at least substituting a vehicle mid-term resulted in a modest additional premium. we'll see come renewal although I suspect lots of shopping around and maybe looking to the more specialist insurers/brokers?

I do love the look of a GT86, I'm on my second. first was an auto which was surprisingly good although old school and with slightly blunted performance and the current manual one.

As soon as spring breaks I'll try to get a track day in to drive it as hard (as my ability) allows!

Mine was the auto also. I think that this was the best photo I managed to take of it. The sun caught it's shine just right on the day and made it look a completely different colour! (I'd just finished detailing it...)

Sooo shinyyyyy

I think the GT86 was the first properly good-looking car Toyota had made in a long time, and it and the GR86 are still the nicest looking cars in their line-up IMHO. They managed to get the lines and proportions just right without going too far overboard (Like the current Civic  )
