My satnav is weird! (I know, they all are😵‍💫)

sometimes the speed cameras are displayed with the appropriate beeps, for as long as a week, then I don’t see them for weeks and then for no apparent reason they appear again!

is there a setting somewhere that I,m missing?
both the ‘show speed cameras and the update on line’ are switched on so in theory they should always show…

help!

Blimey, all the oldies are returning!  Welcome back J&T! Long time no see!

My car doesn't even have satnav so I can offer no help, but we have had a surge of new RAV4 owners lately so I'm sure someone will chime in!

Hi Cyker… not so much of the oldie if you don’t mind 😂😂😂😂

had no problems with the RAV (not that I expected any) but this is really annoying ‘cos I can’t find the answer and no doubt the dealer will want the car for hours!  So asked on here first!

Is it something that just started recently or has it been doing it since you got it?

It may be worth finding out if your car has had all its firmware updates, as I think a few people have had some weird intermittent glitches fixed by firmware updates. At least one member had their firmware accidentally reset to factory, which caused all sorts of problems until the dealer finally looked properly and updated it back to the latest.

On and off since new, maps are up to date - as of yesterday - but looks like a visit to the dealer then 🙂

Do you have an active copy of "Cyclops Mobile Cameras" installed? I think that's where the speed camera location data comes from.

And then, how would Cyclops access the Internet for updated data?

I too, enjoy the "now you see them, now you don't" speed camera feature. I suspect that might be because I don't have my car 'permanently' connected to the Internet - but I don't know. Equally, I don't much care either! 😉

Hmm, if you get it too maybe it is a general software glitch; Any more RAV4 owners out there who can chime in??

Came across this from another forum not sure if your sat nav is the same setup but it's worth a read.😀

Sorry to revive a rather ancient thread! I had been puzzled (but not particularly bothered!) at not getting speed camera alerts, event though the were turned on. Today I discovered why.

Using the satnav, one can turn the spoken directions off, or adjust their volume, by touching the loudspeaker icon on the left of the screen, which brings up a volume control and mute control. Or, more exactly, two such controls - one for the spoken directions, and the other for "sound effects". It turns out that this second control governs speed camera alerts - and it appears that I had muted them! ( I don't recall muting them - I can only assume I had done so by accident at some point when trying to mute spoken directions.). So I unmuted them.

It turned out that not only did this revive the camera bongs, but it also displayed a feature on the display I hadn't see before. I was at the time driving on the A17 between Sutton Bridge and Kings Lynn, a stretch of road covered by a series of average speed cameras. As soon as I unmuted sound effects, the display started showing, next to the current speed limit indicator, an indicator of the vehicle's average speed (useful) that was reset each time I passed a camera (brilliant!) Once I had travelled out of the average speed control area, this bit of the display disappeared. I was not aware of this feature, so I assume that it was introduced with a recent Navigation update.

Only if a speed camera alert is shown.

(Sorry! 😊)
