Prius+ 2016 Apple CarPlay

I’m looking to install an Apple CarPlay, loads on eBay and Amazon, but very unsure which models fit and work. 
I would like to maintain rear camera, and steering wheel controls, along with wireless connection to iPhone (and Android), so I can use the phone maps, etc.

I’d also be interested in installing Apple CarPlay in my Prius 2016, so would appreciate any replies to Johns post.

The MY16 head unit (touch screen only) will need to be replaced by the MY20 (buttons replacing touchscreen buttons) the MY19 does not support CarPlay but looks very similar to MY20 unit. Then register the unit to the VIN of the car via the My T app before you can start the CarPlay integration.  That will give you Wired CarPlay. 
Wireless adapters are available for moving that to “Wireless CarPlay” I use a Carlinkit 2air v5.

That I don’t know. But since it was introduced 4 years ago a breakers yard or eBay would be a good start. Good luck.

I have installed Apple carplay in my range rover, for your vehicle it should be this: https://www.carputech.com/products/for-toyota-2014-2019-apple-carplay-android-auto-module

The Installation is easy and they have videos and instructions for your reference. I finished it in 20 minutes. So I have CarPlay now, it works great, it’s generally more responsive than the original software.
