Thanks Ernie. I'm guessing keeping them outside under a cover is not a great idea?

Ideally id just sell them right away if I can give back the car after 3 years with the CC2s. Still waiting to hear back.

I think if you can keep them outside, covered in a tyre cover on a stand and rotate them they would be OK.

Looking now at cost for stand etc. Thanks Ernie

I have no idea how much a tyre stand/covers might be, but would be worthwhile trying to guesstimate whether you'd be better off just selling the current pristine ones and if necessary purchasing a new set of oem ones further down the line.

ie which is the larger cost - difference between depreciated value/profit of 'like new' tyres sold now, against purchase cost of similar in 3yrs; or costs of purchasing extra gubbins to store them for three years (you're welcome to estimate a monetary cost for the faff/your time as well!).

It also seems fairly stupid if lease company would insist on a brand of tyres, considering they are inherently a consumable product, and they are manufactured by a different company so the product life cycles are not in the control of the car manufacturer or the customer.

In the past, have you ever needed tyre replacements during the timeframe of a lease? I assume the company car programme has handled the costs, but in those circumstances have they put the exact same brand back on? From an insurance standpoint, I'm fairly sure the only requirement is that the size, load index, and speed rating is at least as good as the oem choice.

Yes, many times and the lease company covers the cost under the big corp deal we have with them. Tyres that I've worn out (happened on my AMG well within 3 years 😂) and tyres that got punctured. No cost to me nor explicit cost to my company.  Like for like, same as the stock.

I think selling two lots of tyres, and then buying a set, is also a faff. Hopefully they'd accept the worn CC2s back and in which I'll just sell the stock tyres as nearly brand new. But you might be right. Save's buying a tyre stand and cover, taking up room in the garden, faffing with rotating them once a month etc.

It's not so much a question about wear and tear I suspect for the lease company, given all that is covered under our arrangements. It's a question of rules, process, and bureaucrats. The car was given to me with one type of thing fitted and I'm giving it back with something different to what I received. That's what I'm trying to resolve in the back and forth emails and telecoms. But it's bizarre that this isn't a more common thing they experience and have a solution to.
