Would anyone recommend buying an Aygo from Cargiant?

Seeing as Toyota's are good cars?

shop around, and if in doubt get an inspection done and do your own HPI check

The place selling the car is likely not an issue (if they're good at supporting issues). Buying a good car, is the hurdle to cross.

Word of mouth & good reviews are good things to check.

Read Truspilot for reviews

If it's got full TSH, then it will be covered by Toyota warranty anyway.

I've read horrendous customer service stories from these BIG nationwide car dealers.  However, I've also read good reviews.

I don't understand why people who buy a 2nd hand Toyota (non Toyota dealership) with full TSH and then take out the their warranty also !!

Can't be any worse than some of the main franchised dealers I've got cars from over the years, not Toyota, of course, but I just concentrated on the actual car and price etc. and if the deal is right then carry on.

The bad customer service at the start was soon forgotten and thankfully the actual cars were spot on and way more reliable than sales staff selling them! So a few days of being messed about was overshadowed by years of reliable and happy motoring. Also, in my experience the bad customer service can start after you've committed to buy the car, although some of the c*ck ups I had over the years with the sales process makes you wonder how they managed to sell any cars. I had better customer service from small independant car dealers, but they often got more to loose than those in the big dealerships.

If that's the place that used to be called The Great Trade Centre near Wembley, I know a lot of people who bought cars from there when I was a lot younger!

I'd been there a few times before the name changed, and they usually had some good bargains, but you have to be careful as a LOT of their stock was ex-fleet/rental/driving school and while they usually have been maintained well you don't want one that e.g. Jeremy Clarkson rented or Maureen learned to drive in.

I don't know how it is now, but back in my day they were pretty relaxed about test drives and after taking copies of our licences would just give us the keys to go for a test drive  :whistling1: :naughty:

It's definitely a place you'd want to bring a mate who knows about cars though, as they are all cleaned and polished and tarted up to the nines and you need to look beyond that to spot any issues.

Think I'll stick to Toyota main dealer.  Thank you all for your helpful advice ☺️

Don't dismiss a Peugeot 108 or Citroen C1 either as their basically Aygo in disguise but at a cheaper price.

Just make sure either of the above choice have the 1 litre engine fitted as that's a Toyota unit.

Avoid any 108 or C1 fitted with the 1.2 power unit as its known to be very problematic.

Don't forget... if you buy an aygo f.e. there is up to 10 year toyota relax warranty.

It doesn't exist on citroen and Peugeot.

If you stick to the 1 litre versions of the Peugeot / Citroen then its basically an Aygo in disguise as all the mechanical & electrical running gear is Toyota, they all came out the same factory built by the same people.

FWIW - Wear & tear items wont be covered on an Aygo under the Toyota Relax warranty scheme anyway.
