001.thumb.jpg.f7f6c60f47deed3517bab5a731862460.jpgI have a 1990 Hilux Surf and I have removed the steering column and ignition column as I don't have a key and need to get one made. Does anyone know how to remove the shear bolts ( circled in the attached picture) They don't have a hex nut and are flat. Maybe there is a special tool for removing them. Hoping someone can help. Thanks John

Carefully using a suitable drill & easy out OR weld a suitable nut on to the end of the shear bolt.

If your not skilled with removing snapped bolts find a engineering machine shop / mechanic that is.

If your just getting a key made for the original barrel, do you even need to remove the barrel from the column?

A decent / skilled locksmith with suitable tools would be able to pick / read the barrel & make a replacement key.
