Yaris Hybrid - Not switching to EV Mode

I have notieced lately after a long journey (approx 60 minutes) of mainly motorway driving my 2019 Yaris Hybrid is not switching into EV Mode when nearing home like it usually would on shorter journeys.

Arriving home the engine will remain idling even when the hybrid Battery is no longer being charged. Usually once the hybrid Battery has finished charging the engine will shut off.

On these journeys I have also been using cruise control quite a bit in case this has any bearing.

What could be causing the engine to continue to idle when stationary and in Park even when the hybrid Battery is charged?

Colder weather when you have the climate control system switched on? Could be a lot of things at this time of year... (cruise control being used is irrelevant)

There's so many things it can be - In this case, I'm going to go for the "engine was still hot so it carried on running to allow the oil to circulate and cool down to safer levels before shutting off" guess!

Interesting and Cyker's suggestion.  Usually,  when I get home I park up and switch off.  Engine running on might be more common if we didn't switch off on getting home.

I should clarify I pulled that out of my proverbial and it very likely isn't correct

Sounds convincing though!

I've always thought that if you sound convincing enough, people will believe what you say!  😊

I expect cooling fan to run on a hot engine even after switching off! for a short time until temp drops.

Try turning the climate control off, ideally just before parking. If that fixes it it's what @CPN said.

If not then it's more interesting ...
