Confusion with brochure and website as to interior spec diff

I have purchased a Yaris Excel and admit did not fully check with the dealer as I had done all my locking at the toyota uk website. On there when you went to customise the Yaris it stated the interior was Black Fabric with Partial Synthetic Leather. I have since seen a brochure on Toyota UK site and it state the interior "Grey Fabric with Synthetic Leather Sports Seats"

Can someone confirm if the Yaris excel in Decuma Grey has black interior as stated on the site when customising or Grey as per the brochure. I know its a bit late now but would be good to know as Grey Fabric will be a shock

When we ordered in September the grey seats were one of the factors that put us off the Excel (the faux leather was another). The 2014 spec Excel (130 PS) appears to now have black fabric.

So it depends what car you are getting. If its a 116 PS car from existing stock it will be grey, if its a factory order for a MY 2014 130 PS car it will be black.

No idea if it's going to be stock (thats been sat in a field) or factory I only ordered it last week and no one gave me a choice and just said it will be about 3 months to arrive.

ok thanks for that and that will teach me not to trust a website but just disappointing that they cant get it correct on their own site.

To add to the confusion, I believe the Excel Cross had a dark interior while the Excel Yaris had a light interior

It is annoying they don't let you pick one or the other though, as the parts all look interchangeable to me.

yeah one of those things I guess. I did not even really know there was a new model coming out not being a car person. I was more surprised it took so long to come as when I last ordered a new car many many years ago it was only a 4 week delay.

You know, I have had the MY22 Yaris Cross Excel for 18 months and would have to go out in daylight to check the colour.   I think the headlining is light grey and tge seats a darker grey.  The car is Dacuma Grey. Honestly, when you sit inside you don't see either.

The previous Corolla was 'far too dark and we didn't like it'.  After 2 years or driving it 18 months ago I cannot describe it.

well I think its a very light grey from the brochure but I honestly don't remember either noticing it when I took one for a test drive but just had it in my head it was black. I phoned the garage and they confirmed its very light grey unless it's the new new model but they have no control over what comes in apparently. I agree I dont think I will notice it once I have it.

either way I am looking forward to getting it as the delivery estimate is middle April.

@MardyMarvin given a 3 month wait, you might well get tge MY22 model with gen 4 engine.  Instrument wise you would have had a choice of Smart Connect with larger map display and wifi updates or the City Pack with dynamic reversing lines and all round parking vision.

What you are not getting is the latest digital displays or the £1500 price increase.

The update is expected around May/June.

well if I got the newer model engine I would take that as a nice bonus. Not really up on how they build cars nowadays the last time I had a brand new car they use to constantly build them and store them in a field or runway and just give them a wash before sending them to customers.

Thanks for all the replies every one. Nice to see there are still nice places on the internet to interact.

Then there was that virus from China, Putin, more China, Israel, Arabs ... and hence things take a while now.

Honestly, I'd be happy with a few months delay if we are not in WW3 by then.

And that is not a joke!

That isn't their preferred option now (capital tied up, etc) though it can still happen.

Mr Mardy....go talk to your dealer....ask him what the spec is.  I would most certainly ensure that I received the latest mode...MY24.  The outgoing model's price will obviously take a hit, when the new model starts to arrive.

That's because everything is made to order (or nearly everything) The world changed after Covid with shortages of just about everything from electrical chips to staff to containers and shipping. Back in the bad old days your Morris Ital would have sat in a field for two years somewhere before some poor soul bought what he thought was a new car 😂😂

Something which makes it a little worse is that since Covid Toyota no longer do printed brochures and you have to depend on the website being up to date.

Bob, the old model might be discounted but the newer model will be more expensive.

The issue of generation 4 to 4.5 is a bit cloudy.  I think the MY24 has some improvement on EV and HV but the 130 engine will not be in Excel or lower specs.

it's an idea but I don't think I will try for two reasons.

1- i don't believe dealer would know or be bothered as they have my order already and can't see them being able to tell the factory what they want

2 - resale value for me is not really an issue as my last car was 12 years old before getting a new one and you loose VAT as soon as you drive it off forecourt

Marvin, what you might try is negotiate a bigger discount.

I only paid a £500 deposit,  small enough that I could walk away if I could secure a better deal elsewhere.

I only paid a £250 deposit but like you said I don't think there is a great deal between engines plus I did manage to also get nearly another £1000 off list price with haggling plus a good trade in deal (could not be ubikd to sell private for a few quid more)  so i nearly got 4k off list price. I noticed the new model its about 2k more on the list price to mine and only comes in two colours so will settle with what I have ordered sure I will love it when it comes

Brochure can be even more outdated 😉 but it's easy to track if you download the PDF one to your computer every time it changes. I'm collecting these (PL only, sorry) and this makes it much easier to track down what did they change and how it changes through the time.

But...I thought that you were unsure as to what you had ordered?

I would never buy from your dealer...if you don't believe him....there are plenty of other dealers who will take your money...with a smile and a believable description of your ordered car.

We've been through this...the 130 engine is in the MY24 Excel and GR models?

it's just my perception, the people are nice and friendly but let's be honest they are there to make sales. so when i say I don't trust them what I mean is they will just give some lip service about doing it and come back with an answer that may be from finding out or may be made up. I would have no way to confirm the answer so don't see the point in asking.

All publications will state words to the effect " Prices and specifications correct at time of going to press. Please check with your Toyota dealer ".  Which is only correct - the brochure or website doesn't know when the customers car will come off the production line.  That said when I went to buy my car, the info Toyota UK sent the dealer was wrong. They did make a phone call and confirmed the spec they'd been given was wrong so they're not all lazy.

PS - The seats will likely be covered in moquette if the stock has been parked up in a field - they stopped that practice in the early 80's.  🤣   ( you have to be old like me if anyone remembers moquette ).

It'll only be a select few manufacturers who'll use animal skin on part leather/ part cloth seats. Even cars with full leather have faux leather on the side bolsters. If they used genuine leather it'd be prone to wearing out quicker. Only the facings ( the parts you sit on ) on full leather seats are genuine leather.

UK spec MY24 is 130 engine in GR and premiere edition only. No choice of engine otherwise.
