Owner of an Auris 2.2 Diesel 2007 version. Cylinder Head is gone and I was asking myself whether is it worth replacing the engine with a smaller one or not. Attached to this car but wanted to know if it is worth the hassle and money. Thanks.

I don't think so... Too much hassle and too much money for a 2007 car.

What's the mileage the engine has covered?

The mileage is 160000km

Oh, that doesn't seem much - especially for a diesel.

You said "Cylinder head is gone" - how has it failed?

Regarding Cylinder Head,  Auris in general seems to suffer from this. Am I wrong? It started giving me issues months ago.

2.2 D4D and to a lesser extent (but also) the 2.0 D4D suffer from those issues, especially as the engine gets older. Nothing new, it is known for years. Even later engines that supposedly had the problem "fixed" are showing those issues as mileage and years pile up. It affects Lexus and Toyota models.

Age and value of the car and the replacement engine would not make the cost worth while. Perhaps breaking it for spares would help someway to recovering more money then scrapping it.🙂
