Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Toyota Aygo MMT with a gearbox issue. I connected it to a diagnostics computer and received the following error message:

"Automatic transmission control unit
Permanent fault. Clutch actuator motor signal."

I have already replaced the actuator with a known good one, as well as the gearbox relay and checked all the fuses. However, the same fault persists. Additionally, when I run a gearbox actuator test, it shows as successful but none of the actuators actually move.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance or advice you may have.

Thank you!

Thank you for your advice. I've noticed that the gearbox ECU has a two-digit number. Is it necessary for these numbers to match on the replacement?

Rods74 slightly off topic but did the car give you any warning before it did this? Was it driving fine beforehand?

Interesting. Check out Vak_service on youtube, really knowledgeable guy on these MMTs, made loads of videos on nearly all the faults this gearbox can have.

Flash22. I haven’t purchased one yet, I just wanted to check. So the last 3 digits are irrelevant?

there are early and late mmt ecus and replacement parts

it should start with 89530-70xxx  the last 3 digits are important, please post the part number on your unit iirc it lives under the dash on the driver's side
