I have contacted 5 dealerships to establish if the maps are updated at a cost of £150, will it include car play.

there seems to be conflicting advice on line.

A map update costs £119 - and it's something that you can easily do for yourself. So I'm not too sure quite what question you have posed to the dealers?

Exactly what model / grade do you have?

Early models of the RAV 4.5 were delivered without support for AA / ACP, and there was a firmware update available - originally at a cost of £50 when done in conjunction with a standard service or £150 when done independently though I've no idea whether this pricing remains valid. The update was not applicable to the lowest grades(s) ...

Two different things, map updates and install AA/ACP will be charged as two items and not combined in one price. I think you will find the map update has gone up a bit in price, the licence key is £144 plus VAT

Just a heads up for those that maybe don't know. The cable you connect your phone to the usb port in the cubby under the multimedia screen has to be a charging/data cable. If a standard cable is connected that does not have the data capability then Car Play or Android Auto will not work.

What does one get for that?

When I look on the eStore it states: 1 Year Map Update Subscription & Services £ 119.00

That's for my 2020 RAV4.5 - I'm assuming that Andy's 2019 would be the same?

Thanks members, was quoted £150 for map updates or £100 if done at a service.

The question still remains that no dealer has answered yet, does this  software include ACP.

Definitely not an option on my current set up, and correct you need a charge USB cable, seems the earlier Corolla and Ravs did have AA OR ACP installed, amazing how my sons 2017 fiesta has it !!

You get the ability to use CarPlay Nav apps (TomTomGo, Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze plus many others] rather than the Toyota Nav and Maps and be locked into the bi-annual yearly updates for maps at £119 per year

Personally, I use TomTomGo and for £9.99 a year I get monthly map updates for any World map I wish to use, be that UK Moldova or Fiji as is your want lol.

If it’s a MAP update you have been quoted then no ACP.
you will have to establish that this is a SOFTWARE UPGRADE to include ACP

and yes Ford were an early adopter being an American company for ACP

Arfryn it isn’t a charge cable it is a charge and data cable that is required

Most cables are both by design on a standard lightning cable only 3rd part specialist cables like Mag connect are charge only. There is no distinction on a usb-c cable.

No card these days it’s electronically delivered.

I think the question was about the software update rather than Toyo maps.

It can be either, you can buy a licence key card or download it

The OP wanted to know if maps and ACP were included for £150, they are not, they are two separate items

Hence my post on the difference between a map update and a software update.

map update is just 2 maps per year on a 1 or 3 year plan

software update is an upgrade to include ACP, as per the Toyota article re availability at dealer for upgrade.

we are saying the same thing

I bought a 2019 Dynamic last November and had it upgraded to Apple CarPlay.  It costs £150 if you have it done without a service, £50 with a service.  Not sure about maps updates and whether they are extra?

As stated earlier the ACP/AA retrofit upgrade is a separate item to the map update.

I took my car in to the dealer about a year ago and had the Apple CarPlay retrofit done as part of a service. I noticed that the DA and FA numbers jumped so I was on 17TDT2EU-DA31 and 17TMT2EU-FA10. I've seen mention of version 17TDT2EU-DA56 from another post in this forum, so I wondered what the DA and FA numbers refer to? Can my car be upgraded from DA31 to DA56, and whatever the latest version of FA is?

I live in the UK, and have a 2019 RAV4 Hybrid.

My 2022 Prius is DA31 and FA10. The head unit is the MM20 CarPlay unit.

You can tell by looking at the USB plug , the charge cable has 2 pins and the data cable has 4 pins

I thought this was the latest version too, until I found another post (on this forum) referring to DA56. I wondered if anyone could explain what the DA versions mean? Are they car/ECU/Infotainment specific?

DA = Panasonic

CA = Denso

iirc MEU

FA = Harman

DA56 will be an update for PHEV only

Just bought a 2019 RAV 4. Test drove it and it had no ACP or AA. Made sure they did the uograde for me in the dealership. Well worth it. They didn't charge me either. You can check to see if your car is able to have it on the Toyota website by entering your VIN numbsr

I've just had mine (RAV4 2019 Dynamic) upgraded to Apple Car Play and updated Maps for £150.  Wish I'd read your comment first though and I'd have waited and had it done when next in the garage.  Car Play works really well with my favourite apps (phone has to be connected via a cable) but I have noticed (and maybe I need to fiddle more) I don't seem to be able to play my music from my phone via bluetooth anymore, which must mean I have to be connected via cable from now on.   A benefit in updated maps is the road name, of the road you're currently on, appears on the bottom left of the map, whereas before the update it only appeared if you had the map in sat nav mode (i.e. giving you guidance to a particular address).  I like that.
