Somebody liked my lexus more than me and drove it away in the night. There has been a spate of these CANBUS thefts, they unplug the headlight ,plug in their laptop and start it up in  60 seconds.I got it back a few days later as they could not get the Disklok off the steering wheel. I lost confidence in the brand  and sold it back to the dealership. They are nice cars but really are an  overpriced Toyota. It was only a matter of time before it happened again so i got shot of it.

They have their place - We've had a few new members complaining about the general quality of the Toyotas, and I just point them at Lexus now instead of arguing

For people that want Toyota reliability but german/french comfort then Lexus is a better option, but I just want something hard wearing and efficient for as little as possible and Toyota does that for me. The new drivetrain in the Yaris and Yaris Cross is a really good one - It has just the right balance of efficiency and pull that it's fun to drive and ridiculously frugal at the same time

The new TNGA platform they're based on is a massive leap compared to the previous chassis platforms too - The driving dynamics are so much better and I love throwing my non-Cross Yaris down country lanes and twisty roads

No he's my brother 🙂

Damn didn't know the NX are getting canbus attack. What about the UX, something I was planning to get in the future, perhaps anchorman can share some light on this.

My previous MK3 I hated driving fast twisty roads as it handles poorly, the MK4 hatchback handles excellently like a medium size car.

Indeed. The Mk3 was a heavy roller but the Mk4 is nice and precise and stays more level around the corners...

My last four cars have been Lexus, but anything that makes you a target to criminal gangs is not worth having in your life.  the next step is they drag you out of bed for the key fob,a very scary thought..!!!. My last Toyota was an Aygo back in 2006,cheap and cheerful at the time . Fast forward to 2023 and the Yaris cross is in another league,so easy to drive compared to the Lexus NX,thanks one and all for taking the time to reply.

It depends which model and version you have.  They pull the front bumper back and plug a laptop in by the back of the headlight.  The newer models aren’t effected and you can get a closure plate for the ones that could be.  It tends to be cars that are parked outside that are vulnerable.  It also effects every equivalent model of Toyota so the RAV4 v NX etc.  There is no doubt that a Lexus is an expensive Toyota but not understanding why is just a lack of knowledge because they are better built and it amazes me that they are not more expensive than they are.  However, a Toyota is better built than most other standard production cars and a better long term investment in every way.  There are cars with very nice styling and features but again, only a lack of mechanical knowledge will result in somebody choosing one over a Toyota.   It doesn’t matter if it’s cameras, TVs or cars, the Japanese are the masters of mass production and the envy of the world.
