I have hearing difficulties. With all my previous cars, I was able to adjust the idle speed slightly upwards. That allowed me to hear the engine with my foot off the accelerator when stopped.

Before I started doing that, I would often stall at traffic lights without being aware of it.

Can I adjust the idle speed with X-Play ?

If so, how do I do it ?

Thanks.

Isn't that something you have to do via software? It's fuel injected so I don't think you can change it manually. I'm sure someone may be along shortly to tell me I'm wrong though?

Does your car not have a tachometer where you can see the engine is still running?

you can not adjust the idle as it's all ecu controlled

2020 X-play makes it a mk2 aygo, so adding a rev counter would be an option tho it would require modification to a replacement cluster or mileage correction

Adding an aftermarket rev counter may be an option depending on your skill level

If you have explored every available avenue to improve your hearing abilities, then probably the best solution is to have a rev counter installation. Probably be expensive.

Furthermore, excessive idle RPM will fail your MOT (during emission test).

Yes. I'll need to get into the habit of glancing at that.

The AyGo has a lot more instrumentation than my previous 13-y-o Toyota Corolla 🙂

Thanks

What about having an in car hearing induction loop ?

Clever 🙂

All modern hearing aids have a setting which activates an induction loop. It's used for phones, cinemas, theatres, post-offices, etc.

I tried my setting in the Aygo. All I hear is a constant low frequency growl. So I'm assuming my hearing-aid loop is tuned to human voice frequencies.

Thanks

It depends on how the loop is tuned, something like assisted living devices will have a wider range, there may be an app to allow you to use a smartphone as a loop

I know some of these solutions are not cheap
