Auris MMT Actuators

Hi - I have the common issue with the MMT gearbox. Drops into N when I stop and even sometimes when the car is moving. It’s a 2007 1.6 Auris.

3 stages to my repair im thinking…

1/ clutch actuator recondition

2/ gear actuator recondition

3/ clutch replacement (I’ll need the garage to do this is required)

I decided to recondition the Clutch Actuator myself. The bearings on the rod aren’t turning smooth and the brushes in the motors are worn. So I’ll replace these parts.

Should I have put the clutch into “clutch clamp” mode? Or for that matter did I need to do anything before removing the clutch actuator?

And will I need to do anything similar before I remove the gear actuator?

Of course I’ll initialise using techstream after refitting.

Thanks!

Thanks for the links @flash22. Appreciated.

So I have refurbished the Clutch Actuator - and Initialised + Learnt the clutch using Techstream.

But no joy. The car won't go into gear and stays in Neutral. Error code p0810. But I know that is just the error code - the cause is something I'm trying to work through...

See the attached data readings.

Is there anything obvious I am missing?

Or is next stop the clutch change?

do your brake lights work?

shift motor current looks a bit off

check the shift motor resistance it should be <100 ohms

I take you do not have any trouble codes stored?

the MMT ecu (TCM) outputs for the motors may have died, when you did a relearn could you hear/feel the motors

Hi

Brake lights - I’ll check when I’m back with the car.

Trouble code 0810 is logged.

I did a relearn this morning. I could hear the motors for the actuator and gear actuator.

One thing that felt off was that after the learning is finished - the gear actuator only went through the gears after I turned the ignition off and then on again.

How can I check the shift motor resistance without taking it out? I also presume the shift motor is one of the motors on the gear actuator. (That’s sounds like a silly question - I realise!)

P0810 is a clutch actuator/TCM issue

it's not unusual for some of these reman actuators not to work properly - a new clutch would be the next step
