Android auto

I've now received my new Yaris cross excel. Only 3 months late.

About 2 or 3 weeks after my initial order, I told them that the city pack was not for me, so cancelled it. When I collected the car, I discovered that the city pack was fitted, they agreed I had cancelled it, and said I had not been charged for it. (I don't know if this is true or not, as I never received a copy of the initial order.)

My biggest problem is the android auto wireless connect (or lack of it) . Has anyone one found a way to connect wirelessly, and still have a free usb port? As I always listen to music on a thumb drive?

You could try a USB hub, like this one on Amazon USB Hub

I used to use one in my CH-R (not for AA) and it allowed me to switch between USB thumb drives in the media.
I suspect that only one port can be active at a time though, that could be an issue, but they aren't expensive so worth a try (could always send it back to Amazon if it doesn't work)

Roy,  the difference between City Pack and Smartconnect is/was £100+vat.

Personally I would have rejected it.

@roycollingwood There was a discussion about the single USB port a while ago.

The conclusion was that Android Auto Or CarPlay connected via a cable used all the USB bandwith and it would not recognise a memory stick at the same time.

Only the 9" Smart Connect screen supports wireless AA or CarPlay, as supplied. The older 8" screen system is wired only.

There have been discussions on adding wireless capabilities but I cannot find them at the minute.

Why not put the music on the phone?

(At times I've actually struggled to stop my music app playing music when using Google navigation, though I don't know if Android auto would be different).

I have the excel with city pack, I had misgivings after ordering it , but I’m glad I did, reverse camera with 360 bird’s eye view is great, and the dynamic guide lines work well, I don’t think the resolution is bad at all it’s ok for me.

Primus1.

I am thinking of doing that. When I use a usb stick, it plays all the content for 6 months or so, then I replace all the content with a new set of music. I'm not sure if the phone will do the same? It's also a bine having to plug phone in every time, a lot of my journey's are only 1 or 2 miles.
