Front sensor temporarily disabled message

Hi all,

I have recently acquired a 65 plate Bus Ed 2.0 Estate with 2WW engine and 85k on the clock. I am getting to know the car and am so far pleased with the purchase. However, a few times now I have see a message pop up in the centre display of the dash saying "Front sensor temporarily disabled, clean windshield" or similar... it has only happened at night in the rain so I have not been able to take a pic of it...
I found this thread  (

) which seems to discuss an upgraded part for the windscreen sensor which includes a heater to stop misting which was fitted to vehicles after 2017.

Does anyone know if I would be able to request that part under warranty or if not, the part number and cost?

Thanks in advance.

The comments on this post show that the problem is quite common across a few models...

I contacted Toyota Customer Service via their web form and was contacted a couple of hours later by my local dealership. I explained the issue and the person speaking to me seemed to know about the problem, even offering the "heat the windscreen" advice. I then asked if it was a fault that could be fixed under warranty and the person said, "No, the work around is to switch the Lane assist off and the Auto Headlights off and 'do things' manually". I suggested that this was a safety hazard to make changes mid journey and then asked if he could send me a quote on having the part retro-fitted to my vehicle. This morning I got an SMS saying the cost would be an estimated £389.40 "for adding a PCS auxilliary heater" to my car.🤯

Does anyone know how much the part costs and if this is a DIY job?
