I think this is what they’re working on - list price, not on the road price.

I looked at ;  https://www.carbuyer.co.uk/car-tax/112227/car-tax-rates-2024-ved-tax-and-bands-explained

but you're probably right.

The government site gives more clarity, as to what they accept is the list price, not what you might expect, as it includes delivery charges etc..

I am off to view an Excel on Wednesday.  I have been looking at some images of the boot space.  Am I right in thinking that you can only get one decent sized suitcase lying flat in the boot.  From what I can see, there isn't room to stand them on edge?

Another question please, is the GR Sport much that much better than the Excel?

And another one, sorry!  Can you get the SatNav to appear on the dashboard screen in the Excel or GR?  With my Peugeot the bit showing the turns coming up appear right in front of me on my dashboard.  It's one of the options available for the dashboard.

Thanks again.

Forget about images. The Yaris X has one of the largest boot's in it's class. It's a hatchback with a 40/20/40 rear split seat which increases the flexibility. And the luggage cover is flexible. It's pointless telling you about mysuitcase becasue it'll be a different size from yours. Why not take your suitcase with you on Wednesday and find out?

Is a GR sport better than an Excel?  Only you can answer that question. It's only a different trim level, it's not a different car or different engine. If you like powered tailgates the Excel will be better. If you like nicer seats the GR Sport will be better. And if you like the colour Ash Grey you've only one choice.

Hi Bluenose1940 just logged in to see how the never ending Battery saga was going on when I read your post about  the GR Sport and the Excel and having experienced both this is my opinion. I had the Excel for 2 years and really liked it as it was great around town, alot better for streets that have cars parked on both sides car parking etc than the Rav 4 hybrid I had prior to this model. I part exchanged the Excel for a GR Sport 4 weeks ago and so far it's been just as good. I found the colours were better to choose from and the interior and seating was better as was the handling which was tighter. The ride quality doesn't seem to be much different with the "sports suspension." I had a safety pack added that was already in with the Excel but now that seems to have disappeared from the options for a 24 GR Sport although I believe they both have a more powerful output and other improvements. I think they're priced about the same. PS the Battery problem has never arisen for me.

Thank you for your valued input chaps, much appreciated.

I think that I will stick with looking at the Excel.  There does seem to be quite a few around.  I spotted a really nice one that I would have jumped at were it not so far to travel to look/buy it.

The MY24 Cross Premiere is now the top model.

Thank you Peter.  There are a few of these around but they are all a good drive from down here in Devon.

And if I'm correct, if it has the AWD option or the JBL system fitted, you cannot fit a space saver in the boot.

(a point to note is that the JBL Sound System (if fitted) is not in the boot. It is under the driver's seat)

Ah, my bad.  Thought it may have been the same as the Aygo Cross, which is in the boot.  Maybe I also got the AWD comment wrong too 😭

AKAIK, the spare wheel space in the AWD Yaris Cross is partially taken up by the extra electric motor on the rear axle... (BIMBW about that also)

I understand that they've done away with the city pack, on the MY24...all built in to the new system...just as it should be.

Looked at the Specs, below GR and Premier the cars will have the Safety Pack.  Top range will include the Advanced Safety Pack.  I think this is an option on lower specs.   I bet it is nut £100!

Anyone got any thoughts on the vehicle in my last post or, who may have had dealing with that particular dealer?

It looks great to me and in the colour I would have AND its low mileage, I totally like the glass roof.

There are lots out there to pick from.  You just have to ensure it ticks all YOUR boxes.  All that I would like to see on that particular car is the AWD and a Towbar (just for my cycle, not towing), mud guards and possibly the side steps/ runners.

Just best to compare with others which have the same spec and mileage and this will determine whether the asking price is good or not.

Nice looking low mileage car and only £50 to change your surname to Guest 😁

Just heard back from the dealer.  I raised a question about the 7"! info display screen and he has come back and said it should be 9", can't say I've seen a 9" screen mention before, I thought they were 10".

I also queried the SatNav and he said that it has TomTom integration.  My SatNav in the Peugeot is TomTom.

Also, it's only got tw parking sensors on the front and rear.  Mine has 4.

I meant to mention before, that when I first registered with this site it was for questions re my wife's Yaris.  I've never owned one myself.  I had a Lexus at the time.

@ChasG, I'm a bit slow off the mark and your comment hasn't clicked yet, sorry 🥵

@152bobby, thank you for your input, much appreciated.

I can't tell by looking at the photos, but for that price, it wouldn't do any harm asking them to throw in rubber mats and rubber boot liner and ensure you get the original carpet mats, which should come as standard anyway.👍

9” screen was standard, that particular unit also has JBL sound system upgrade.

Standard (included) SatNav is Toyota, TomTom is available via CarPlay or Android Auto if you subscribe on your phone.
