Touch 2 Go map display rotated

Have just bought a 2019 Yaris Icon Tech 1.5 VVTi, and notice that the map doesn't in any mode (3D/2D/2D North) show the 'road ahead' as pointing forward. Instead, it points to around bottom left of the screen. 2D North doesn't point North. The navigation seems to know where to go, all the verbal prompts are correct so I can use sat nav, just can't easily use the display, as the map is rotated maybe 170 degrees or so from reality.

I can't find anywhere to configure or adjust the map alignment, to rotate it so the road ahead actually points forward/up on the display, and North points North!

Any thoughts please?

Thanks, Paul

iirc you tap and drag the compass, or it maybe press and drag your finger to change your view/direction

Thanks for th reply Bob. Have just tried that and can move the display up and down, left and right, but can't rotate it.

Have also just noticed that the dash screen (between the speedo and rev counters) when I select the 'compass' symbol tells me that ahead (top) is N, NE, E , so basically thinks the car is pointing NE. I know that my drive points due West, so that is also wrong by 160 degrees or so.

Do we know if the Touch 2 Go gives this info to the dash screen, or the other way round, or are these independent compass readings (which would be weird to both be wrong, unless they both get it from another source on the vehicle, e.g. sat nav aerial)?

Just realised, can't be a sat nav aerial problem, as the verbal prompts are all correct, I get to the right place. Just need to take the Touch 2 display out and turn it just about upside down! And the dash screen rotation as well?

Direction is calculated by GPS coordinates i know you can change the view, but can't remember off the top of my head the method

if all else fails, you can do a reset from the hidden nav service menu

tap the circled areas top, middle - top, middle - top, middle

To be honest I am reluctant to do a full reset of the Touch 2 without being able to adjust angle of rotation afterwards, as it may be even worse. I think you are definitely on the right track though Bob.

I should say we bought this car just a few days ago, for my wife, whose own Yaris (older model, no built-in sat-nav) was written off last week in a road accident, so I know nothing about how or when the map came to be twisted.

But I also have an elderly Avensis, and when I had to change the head unit, which includes sat-nav, it all worked except the car wasn't showing in the right road position (some distance away)  or as I recall (ten years ago!) orientation (rotation). There was a menu setting on the head unit that (definitely) allowed position and (not sure) orientation to be adjusted, to get the car in the right place and map facing the right way. I think the Touch 2 probably has a similar menu somewhere?

I am worried why the dash screen compass bearing is also rotated though, unless it gets this from the head unit (Touch 2 with Go), or vice versa?

Just now, Dr Who said:

It sounds like the compass unit (or whatever generates the direction) needs resetting.

(If it's like my phone you'll have to drive around in a figure 8 several times ... not that it ever seems to work anyway.)

Thinking about this more, (and I do know this vehicle had a body shop repair before we bought it, so had an impact) if the sat-nav aerial has rotated it will look like the car is rotated on the map, although the location will still be correct. Unless there is a way to 'rotate' the map by menu (PLEASE someone tell me there is!), sounds like I need to rotate the aerial/antenna to point forwards? I think this sits on top of the speedo/rev-counter ? Ugh.

(In vehicles without the Go sat-nav addition to the Touch 2, how does the dash screen compass find North? Or do all Touch 2 head units have an antenna?)
