Hi,

in UK it is illegal to use led bulbs in non led lights on a car. The car can not pass mot and also these conversions often deliver worse performance than original equipment bulbs. You can simply replace your bulb with new and job done, easy and without any hassle.

I am aware of the law

that bulb you have listed is pointless lower power (lumen rating) than the current

so the question is, can anyone offer ideally a “legal “ bulb bit is brighter than the one listed above that it is about as bright  as candle in a storm

if this is not possible, I’m open to those people have used LED bulbs to offer a suitable solution. Thank you

They are supposed to be low wattage (19W)  as they are fog lamps, not driving lamps, anything bright in there will be blinding people, especially LED

You must have very very badly angled fog lights (mark 2 is adjustable) so in NO WAY would they blind anyone even if 1000w

the discussion / post was over the bulb (lumen rating) not the ethics of whether to go brighter whether via traditional non LED or other methods

They are FOG lights, putting anything ultra bright in there is defeating the object, light will bounce back at you and be of no use at all. What are you trying to achieve?

I just wanted options on better brighter (lumen) and a better kalvin rating than the current dull candle.

It's a H16LL, I don't think you will find a brighter (higher wattage) in that bulb, you might find a colder K range, as the bulb/lamp is not designed to be bright, the headlamps do that

Foglights are only tested on cars beyond march 2018. So auris is exempt, is my understanding.

Exempt is a bad choice of word. They cannot fail you on the MOT for something they should not be testing.

pity we know the headlights truly awful and I was lucky enough to get both full headlights replaced warranty to the slightly better design.

compared to my Honda the distance is night and day literally

ill be avidly hunting to buy a suitable higher K and L rating if I find any I will post for benefit of others
