Time to upgrade

Its time to move on from our avensis d4d which has been a great car. We are now looking at a RAV 4 up to 15k. Petrol I think would be better so could I get a suggestion on the best engine and trans to go for? Something a bit simpler to work on would be good too. I have vast knowledge as a DIYer. I've experience in pulling gearboxes, complete suspension overhauls and many other jobs. So please advise accordingly. Than you

Have you considered PCP deals? I always bought and owned my own cars, but now of a relatively fixed income like to know exactly how much per month goes out. So got my car from a main dealer on PCP and a little extra for servicing and MoT and then a completion of a rolling 10 year warranty. Not so much to worry over depreciation either.
