Sat Nav

I have a AVENSIS T3 S D-4D that has an in built St Nav. There's some kind of sat nav box underneath the passenger seat that appears to have an opening for a CD or something. I've never really been able to use it effectively. Is it worth trying to get some firmware update or is it a bit rubbish compared to using Google Maps etc?

Don't waste your money trying to update it, very poor system anyway on those models

Tbh a 10 inch “older” ipad ( from £12 in cex  https://uk.webuy.com/product-detail?id=sappipa16gorac&categoryName=apple-ipad&superCatName=computing&title=&queryID=fbe24b7d811e6e3ffaa18fbf9c80f1a7&position=1 ) running Apple / google or waze maps tethered to your phone for traffic if you want.
Spend a little more, say £150 ( https://uk.webuy.com/product-detail?id=sappipa1732gsgvodb&categoryName=apple-ipad&superCatName=computing&title=&queryID=c33b1cd90e572101f7cfe6f10df3d4d8&position=10 ) for a device capable of running ios 15 and you can install tomtomgo (£19.99 a year) .
Combine that with a good car ipad holder and you have a solution for less than £50  - £170  potentially  

TomTom maps are downloaded locally so no reliance on internet for routing. Also updated every month.
