Under the bonnet... just around the edge of the soundproofing pad.. doesn't make sense to me if it salt from roads.

I've checked. I have it too.

Yes guys I can confirm that it’s not a cocaine but it’s a salt from the winter roads. You can try with finger and see it’s salty 😂👌

Strange how it forms on the perimeter of the soundproofing mat underside of the bonnet...how does that work?.

From getting wet and drying out I'm guessing.

When you were driving on the motorway and there is salt either mixed with water from rain or salt melting or just as dust if you had been driving amongst the gritters mornings time these salty mixture goes through radiator opening and covers the entire engine bay. Then because the engine bay gets hot these “ beautiful salty mixture “ evaporates and gets trapped into the sound proofing cover and starts to bleed around. I was not joking and I had tried it’s a salt . But don’t get me wrong, I don’t drink engine oil, just like to get my hands dirty. 👌

I had it alot on my Avensis cars and the Auris. Nothing on the Corolla yet. I used to check for any fluids leaking but there were none, so I never really thought about what it might be. Now I know.
