I just thought I should say hellow.  So, hello! 👋

I actually joined because I had a query about my stealth Toyota (Mazda 2 Hybrid) which, I guess you all know is really just a rebadged Yaris Hybrid.

However, I do also have an actual Toyota, a Mk3 MR2 Roadster.

Over the years, I've had a few Toyotas: three Mk3 MR2 roadsters in total, and a Mk1 MR2 as well.  I've also had a few more stealth Toyotas - specifically a Citroen C1 and a Peugeot 107 which are, of course, just modified Aygos.

So, probably a long-overdue joining of this forum. 😄

Hi Nigel, Welcome lots of good advice when you need it and always welcome when you give it. Nice cars. 👍

I like how the yellow flashes on the Yaris are colour co-ordinated with your MR2

I didn't know you could get yellow ones - You can only get red ones with Toyota! (Although they do look good on grey)

That MR2 looks gorgeous - You've clearly looked after it!

Thanks. 😄

I've always had a fondness for yellow cars (strong yellows, not so much pale ones).  I've owned quite a few over the years and when I haven't, it's mostly been because it wasn't possible to get that particular type of car in yellow.  So, the yellow flashes on my lead grey Mazda 2 are at least a nod in that direction.

The yellow MR2s are not the most common colours, but there are a few around.  In fact, for a while...

I had two yellow ones at once!  The one on the left is a UK spec one (and the one that I still own) and the one on the right was a Japanese import.  Actually, it was kind of a double import.  I bought in in Northern Ireland, and brought it back over on the ferry from Belfast, unaware that the car registration system was totally separate in NI (I knew the plates had a different format).  So, I had to fill out import papers for it when I brought it to the mainland.  It was no hassle, but it was unexpected.  Unfortunately, mechanically, the Japanese one started to fail in a big way and I couldn't justify keeping two anyway.

I have spent quite a bit of time on the MR2.  So, yes, for a 24 year old car, she's not looking bad at all. (But it's really nice when someone says so. 💛)  The previous owner had looked after it, so it was a very good base for my further tidying up.

The seats are real eye-catchers.  I got them custom done by an upholsterer in Newtonmore (near Aviemore) and I got a replacement soft-top done by a guy who specialises in them in Swansea (recommended by the owner's club).  Various other bits and pieces have been done too.

I bought the car in Bristol about 7 years ago, drove it home to Aberdeenshire, then a few months later, back down to Swansea for the roof and toured up through Wales and took a nice long way home.  So, in that first year, we put in quite a few miles but everything went as I hoped it would.

They are great cars, and massive fun to drive.
