2008 vvti mpg

Hi all.

Recently purchased a 2008 1.6 vvti Auris. Its got 50k genuine miles, manual gearbox.

Just wondering roughly what mpg others are getting around town?

Mine seems to be getting about 26mpg. Mechanic suggested I try injector cleaner. Anyone tried a cleaner which resulted in any mpg improvement?

Seems low but if you’re only doing short journeys that might be why. Do you know when it was last serviced? A quick look at the condition of the air filter will tell you if it maybe needs sorting. Id throw some Redex or even premium fuel next couple of fills and see if that helps. Tyre condition and pressure has some impact too. I find mine quite thirsty but I know I don’t do myself any favours with my driving style.

Journeys are a combination of a few local roads and a bit of A road driving. So I guess that may not help.

I'll give the redex and premium fuel a try. Any specific Redex required? Will also check condition of the air filter.
