Missing features in 9" multimedia system (Yaris IV)

Is it just me (unable to find anything) or Toyota actually failed to implement some features with the bigger multimedia?

In the 8" (and 7" IIRC) - the one with buttons on the sides - there are multiple advanced settings ("Vehicle customization") which are lacking on the 9"

But what really made me angry is the clock, which looses sync (around a minute every 2 months). And apparently the clock synchronization with GPS is included in 7 and 8" multimedia and is NOT available in 9" 😞 so I have to manually correct the clock like it's 80s every 2 months.

Of course to change any setting for Vehicle customization I have to visit Toyota. So no way to disable keyless myself (apart from buying OBD interface and software to do that but I consider that a hack and not a proper way to setup the vehicle).

I can’t remember the details but I think you can link it to gps or radio although it won’t change on DST.

Where is that option in 9" multimedia? Or maybe it's just hidden and accessible by the Toyota service center?

I honestly can’t remember but I don’t remember it causing problems.  My mate owns it now so I’ll ask him. (Original owner succumbed to cancer so another mate brought it).

Again, no such thing as general 🙂

It's only possible to setup the current time by using the settings on the instrument panel. I will show you if you'd like as I cannot find proper video right now and I don't have the car nearby.

A bit more digging shows options like Smart entry On/off are dealer only on the Smart Connect - not sure if there is anything in the My T app

Yeah, hopefully the auto time sync is there too as I can live with inability to change these special settings, but having clock running late (which was already issue for me on 2002 Y1 - yet the car was 20 years old at the time so it was understandable that the quartz/capacitor/whatever element responsible for counting seconds might be a little off) in a new car is a great inconvenience for me.

Nope, nothing settings related there 😕

the time should sync with a (bbc) FM station or GPS

there is a new update for the smart connect (TAS 600) not sure what it covers tho or if it has been pushed OTA

Edit. BE-00606T-TME  updated 04/03/24

Should it be included in build 1.23.136?

I have the same problem in my Yaris Cross 2023.

Me too.  First time, before I noticed,  was quite large, over 5 minutes.

I usually use the journey times on the main display only this time I hadn't and almost missed a train because of it

How big is a clock drift in your case?

It seems bonkers that a car with GPS and an always-on data connection can't automatically sync/change the clock. Bit of a fail for "Smart Connect".

I only use CarPlay now, don't even bother correcting it.

What is even more strange is that on my 2020 Launch Edition which doesn't have "Smart connect" but does have the "call home" feature via the emergency (data) module which, I believe, is also how other telemetry is passed back to the "mothership" and that auto corrects its own clock.

@Roy124 Are you sure that the option to "Auto adjust by GPS" is not in the setup under the clock section?

(Mine has "Auto adjust by GPS" in the Clock setup menu and since the "mothership" always knows where the car is physically, I can only assume that there is an inbuilt GPS unit in the head unit somewhere that is independent of "Smart Connect".)

Just checked the instrument panel settings once more. The only options available are: 12h/24h time format, hour setup, minute setup. Nothing else 😕 Will ask my dealer on the yearly checkup if he can enable GPS sync in my car as the clock drifts. I wonder what will happen 😄

looks like it can only be manually set on the MID with the SM

setting bounce you between 3 manuals and is clear as mud
