What is this circular ring for?

Hi, I found this on the drive under my Corolla E11 (1999 model) this morning. Does it look like something that's fallen off from under the car? It's about 40cm diameter and has got a raised section on it. Does it even look like a part off a car?!. Have kept it safe just in case. Thanks in advance.

doesn`t look like a car part, hard to see in the photo but it looks too clean to be off the underside of a car.

Have you taken the wheel off recently? It looks like the part from a plastic wheel trim which keeps the clips rigid.

Good shout. I've not had the wheel off recently, but it might be what you say it is. The size is about right and it's surface-rusted, so it could be that. 

 

When I first saw it I thought it was a retaining clip from a dustbin.

My vote is the same as 1.33's - Looks like the retention spring from a hub cap/wheel trim.
