Bus lane accident

Five years compulsory motorcycling  only is not a practical solution.  My parents would not allow me to have a motorcycle because they considered them too dangerous.  So I had to wait until I was 17, and then take driving lessons.

The main cause for bad driving is that there is no real punishment for reckless driving, and no significant rewards of much reduced car insurance for claims-free driving.

I have been driving for 70 years, and in that time have had one fault claim - that was not even on the highway; it was in a seething mass of towed caravans on a motorway services .  It was an overflow parking area with a badly irregular surface, and my caravan “rocked” against another as I slowly passed by it.  Caravans have soft rubber suspensions and rock according to depressions in a road or parking area.  That was in 2011.  It is not now considered for setting my premium, but I am getting hammered for what I can only think is my age.

Yes, I would willingly see some periodic checks on fitness to drive, but equally I would expect much lower premiums if my performance showed it to be worthy - regardless of age.

Like tooling along at a mere 10 yards a second or less as decreed in Wales or London.

Look up. Assess hazards up to a 100 yards ahead-    what shall we do for the next 9 seconds ......

The only ones likely to get a speeding ticket in Wales are the sheep.

That's a case of Darwin at work improving the gene pool. Those that can't run fast get lots of love. 🙂

Just a rumour I heard is all.

In all seriousness have you tried buying mutton lately?

No one round here sells it any more.

Tesco and Morrisons sell mutton, and Sainsbury’s sell lamb-and-mutton burgers.  I think you would find it in many farm shops.

How about beef sausages?

A couple of elections back we were entertained with a diatribe that he could not get beef sausages.   It was a conspiracy.  Now in Melton Mowbray where he came from ......

Beef sausages 😱 sacred bleu!

Sausages are meant to be made of porky pork mcporky,at the very least 85%.

On rare occasions, like birthdays and anniversaries a bratwurst, bockwurst or even a doppelganger is acceptable.

Yes they are porky too, and with !Removed! und senf are fine.

Nowt wrong with horse.

Snake takes some getting down and I don't do dog unless I have to.

My general rule is: If it is not from the sea then no more than four legs and no less than two.

At one point P&O breakfast menu included that novel delight 'Vegetarian Lincolnshire Sausages'.

I pointed out the oxymoron.

My mum always said that any fool can drive fast, but it takes real skill to drive slow!

Certainly the case for a motorbike!!

In actual reality, by Speeding you gain seconds and if over a decent distance, maybe a minute or 2.  I don’t really understand in todays day and age with being able to stream TV the need to exceed the speed limit (although having to do 20mph here is Wales is a real ball ache!)

The exception to the rule is of course if you’re occupation allows you to speed, as time is critical for a cardiac arrest/stroke etc. I still don’t go mad though, best to arrive 45 seconds later than not at all!

Working for then ambulance service I am required to respond to incidents ultilising blue lights and sirens.  When in an area built up (in Wales) the  “recommended “ speed is 20 over the limit. Therefore in a 20mph an athletic are more than capable of overtaking ! How embarrassing!!
